About the adventure
From the rich city of Calimport to the perilous Calim Desert, Calimshan is a land of opportunity for adventurers seeking fortune and glory. It is also a place of many intrigues among powerful genies, nobles, and secret cults. Whatever you are seeking can probably be found here, but what price will you pay? ⚔Create a level 3 character using any officially published material, including new background and subclass options tailored to Calimshan. ⚔Survive the Calim desert, the intrigues of Calimport, and the magic of the genies, and you may find yourself a very rich and powerful hero by the end of this campaign! We will be using 2024 DnD rules for gameplay, but I'm open to 2014 classes/subclasses. More details during our FREE session 0!

About me
Hey there! I’m Wendel — I’ve been rolling dice and chasing adventure in TTRPGs since 2021! I’ve always loved fantasy novels and video games, but discovering tabletop games opened up a whole new way to tell stories with friends instead of just reading or playing through them. I’ve been GMing a D&D campaign for the past two years, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: no plan survives contact with the players — and that’s where the magic happens. I love setting the stage, watching chaos unfold, and turning wild, unexpected moments into stories we’ll laugh about for years.

Creating your character
Characters will be created or at least finalized during session 0. You are free to work on your character before session 0. We will be starting at level 3. All official 5e options published by Wizards are allowed, no third party or unearted arcana please. Characters will be starting as part of a group escorting a merchant across the Calim Desert into Calimport. An important question to answer in your backstory is: What am I seeking in Calimshan? Could be a treasure, or a person you think is here, or maybe you're hoping for a wish to be granted by a powerful genie?
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account, as well as a microphone (webcams are optional.) You will also need a DndBeyond account. The virtual tabletop that we will be using is AboveVTT. AboveVtt is a browser extension that works for Chrome and Firefox, and integrates directly with DndBeyond. All you need to do is download the browser extension, no account required. When it's time to play, you just need to click the launch AboveVTT button that will show up on your DnDBeyond character sheet, as long as the character is part of the campaign.
What Wendel Michaud brings to the table
I will be bringing maps, tokens, and a little atmospheric music here and there. I will also be bringing voices, quirks, and humour where I can! I love me some action, so expect a fair bit of combat and dangerous environments. Much of this adventure will be surviving the Calim Desert, so there will likely be some survival elements as well. I'm pretty laid back, I don't really keep track of things like encumberance or ammo (unless its magical.) I'm also very patient with new players and those who find rules a little confusing. We're playing a game, not studying for law school! Above all, I will be providing an enthusiasm for this game and for your characters. I may be bringing the challenge, but I'll be your cheerleader the whole way through!
Homebrew rules
Well I'd normally put drinking potions as a bonus action, but thats RAW now! They were listening! I do like to use optional flanking rules.

Safety
How Wendel Michaud creates a safe table
Player safety and comfort are of the upmost importance to me. We will be doing a fair bit of talking during session 0 about what kinds of things we don't want to come up in the game. I have zero tolerance for any kind of non-consensual PvP, murdering of innocent civilians, or torture. During a session, I will be employing tools such as the X card, breaks, and an open door. If you need to step out or take a break for any reason, no problem!
