About the adventure

How often does your hero make it to level 20? How many heroes retire or perish before becoming legendary heroes? This party’s done it. You find yourselves at your peak with power others can only imagine. No one else is capable of doing what you have, and that’s why it’s up to YOU. Centuries ago, gods battling on the material plane changed its landscape forever, and now... they threaten to do the same. It’s up to you and your party to stand between gods and change history. Will you mediate the conflict? Find compromise? Or will you find one god in the right and others in the wrong? Or, with your might, will you decide to retire the gods and slay them with your own hands? It’s a conflict only level 20 characters could handle. And after all the years together, all the adventures, it’s all come down to this. Can you handle the power? THIS GAME HAS A GROUP DISCOUNT! If a group of 3 or more players sign up together, the game's price is $15 per person! Once each player is signed up, you can reach out to me directly and I will apply the discount before the game.

About me

Hello! I’m Matthew, and I have been a professional DM for 3 years, hosting game nights at local game stores, weaving long term campaigns, and even running Dungeons and Dragons events for kids. I began playing D&D in 2017, which soon turned into recording content and later working alongside creators such as Beholder to No One and Awfully Queer Heroes. In 2022, I became very active at my local game store where I began hosting public D&D nights every week. In 2023, I became involved in a Dungeons & Dragons for Kids program and I had the wonderful opportunity to be a Game Master for children ages 11-16. I’ve since been building my online game running skills with complex maps, unique tokens, and dynamic combat. I have found a new love for running games where I can meet new players and see fresh and veteran players come out of their shells and find camaraderie in a story told together. The best Game Master feeling is always when you present your players a difficult choice with two solutions, and they throw all your plans out the window and make a third choice you never thought of yourself. I love it every time.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before the game. Players are expected to come with a level 20 character. Players will have access to a D&D Beyond link that will allow them to easy build and store their characters. Players may use the point buy system or roll for stats. Players may use the 5e 2014 or 2024 rule set to create their characters. Any official 5e content is okay to pull from. If you are interested in playing something homebrew or unofficial, please message me directly. Players should come with a level 20 character and know their race, class, and why they became an adventurer so long ago. All players will be sent a Google form where they can share this information with the DM. Players will also be asked to share their character sheet with the DM. At the start of the session we will introduce characters, and improvise the legendary adventures this group went on to get to this point. If you’d prefer, or you sign up last minute, 20th level character can be provided to you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will receive an invitation to the discord where they can see game information and introduce themselves. Players will also be given a link to a Google form where they can share information about their character and fill out the Lines and Veils checklist. Players may use physical dice or roll digitally if they wish.

What Matthew J Walsh brings to the table

Players will have access to the full character creation tools on D&D Beyond through this game. I utilize ambient music through discord, so players may choose to allow it to play or not for them. You can expect character voices, or at the very least, changes in cadence and inflection. Combat will be theatre of the mind, or occasionally on the free to use, no sign up required, Virtual Tabletop Owlbear Rodeo if we need a clear visual or its a large battle. I often like to keep combat fluid and dynamic.

Homebrew rules

Massive Damage and Lingering Injuries: If your character takes equal to or more than half your maximum hit points and you are dropped to 0 hp, you might suffer a Lingering Injury. This is a d100 role with a variety of results. The table will be available on the discord. Attunement: Attunement to magic items that require it only takes 1 minute to attune, not a long rest. Potions: To drink a potion is a Bonus Action, and to feed to another is an action. Flanking: Flanking does not grant you advantage, but instead +2 to your attack. Nat 1’s at a distance: If you are firing a ranged weapon at an enemy who is in melee with an ally, and you roll a 1, you hit your ally. On Fire: The rules of being on fire are you take 1d4 fire damage at the start of your turn. This will now occur at the end of your turn, and the damage may not be 1d4 or fire damage. It will be made clear to the player how much at the time and decided by the DM. Example: If bathed in acid, I'll tell you you're going to take 3d8 acid damage at the end of your turn unless you use an action to remove the substance. This then gives you a choice, use your action and don't take the damage, or get your turn in at the cost of your health.

Safety

How Matthew J Walsh creates a safe table

Every player will be sent a link to complete information about their character and to complete a Lines & Veils checklist. At any point during the game, players may feel free to utilize the Open Door method and request a break. Players may message me directly about anything at anytime. We will take a break half way through and check in on the players. If any subject at any point is too much, most content warnings below can be circumvented. Additionally, there are many Content Warnings due to the episodic nature of the campaign and often changing settings and stories. All content warnings are flexible, and may be subject to change based on the needs of the players.
