The style of game that I run is your classic, laid back feeling game with your friends that simutaniously is ran by the book (with voted homebrew by the table invoked), is professional, runs this game like a business, is always on time, is always punctual and never misses a scheduled game. My games use the official Dungeons & Dragons rules with Rules as Written as the foundation, but every now and then, if someone comes up with an awesome, creative idea that makes the whole table smile, I might lean into a little Rule of Cool. Those moments are the exception, not the rule, because I believe the rules are there to create a fair and consistent experience while still leaving room for those unforgettable cinematic moments that make D&D so special. I start our table off with no homebrew rules and let the group decide together when and if they need them.
