Gosh. Where do I even begin? In my journey to get back to DnD this year, I discovered StartPlaying and by extension. Bronson and his Campaigns. They were one of the first to pop up on my page when I started my search and whether it was the well written descriptions or the delightful enthusiasm that shows in his passion for the game, something drew me to them! So I took a chance and I haven't regretted it. Not only does Bronson do an incredible job of guiding you through these incredible worlds and setpieces. He also has a way about his campaigns that really weaves together player relations with his campaigns. Endlessly encouraging and always to lend an ear, a hand or in some cases a well placed skill check. Another spot where I've found he's excelled is curating and making content a lot more palatable for us newbies. Do you have questions? He'll answer you in a ridiculously short amount of time. Are you concerned about your build? He'll give you a dozen reasons why it's going to be awesome, but also suggestions on tweaks or changes you could make to have it shine even more. He's very good at helping new and old players alike feel comfortable and lean into whichever aspect of the game they want to enjoy most. If you want roleplay? He's happy to breathe life into the world and characters around you. If you want combat and epic dungeon crawls that feel rewarding and fun? He'll find a reason to send you tumbling into that spider-filled crypt. He'll laugh while they ruin every action you want to take with webs, but then cheer you on when you hit that perfect roll and blast six of them out of existence with a massive crit. Rule of cool? He's your guy. You nail that roll? Do it awesome. Did you give an engaging and fun recap of last weeks session for your fellow players? He'll reward that effort. He makes his games really feel like it's just a bunch of friends getting together and crafting a journey together. Which I think is where he shines most. At the end of the day, he's still a human and he forges fast friendships and rappor with his players. What else haven't I touched on here? He curates his setpieces and scenes very well. He's got soundscapes and visuals down to a T and makes abundant use of his resources across all his varied platforms. One thing that was incredibly neat when joining him was the addition of a browser plugin called Beyond20, this just dials his sessions up to eleven by seamlessly integrating the setpieces and your rolls. A small piece of tech which makes his TTRPG campaigns feel like you're playing Baldurs Gate rather than throwing math rocks and being confused by what they're calculating. Which in a year when many are seeking out DnD because of the success of Baldurs Gate, helps transition those beginners from Gamers, to Tabletop Epics. Anywho, at risk of this running WAY too long. Ignore the three choices I choose below in how to describe him because he checks off every single on of those descriptions with ease. If you want a great experience as a first timer or an old hand, start your journey today with this incredible DM.
