About the adventure
The young prince's birth was always seen as a bad omen; there was a prophecy of the kingdom's ruin on violet wings, and the child was born with violet feathers. Only 23 years later, the Emperor and Empress are dead from a terrible storm at sea. For their long lived race, crowning the young prince as Emperor at just 23 is akin to crowning a toddler. On top of everything, there is a sudden rise in monster attacks. Concerns for the kingdom's welfare are once again brought to the surface; could that prophecy be true? You are hired by the young Emperor of Haizea-la to act as his warriors. Sometimes, his personal guards. Most times, Divine Hunters, chosen by the Divine Emperor to purge the land of darkness. You will explore not just the misty mountains of Haizea-la, but soon you will help other kingdoms with their monsters: the floodplains of Galia-li, the singing forests of Inbal-ya, the snowcapped mountains of Sarangerel, its sister kingdom in the vast desert Narangerel, fey-filled woods of Rajan-an-Pranee, the volcanic beaches of Azara-ka, and the fungal forests of Lian-Lian.

About me
I'm a 31yo nonbinary artist whose passion lies in storytelling! The most important things to me in ttrpgs are fun, roleplay, and story (including player characters' backstories, not just plot). I've been DMing for about 10 years and playing D&D for about 15. I love homebrew and having the players add onto the setting with locations, plot hooks, NPCs, deities, whatever they (reasonably) want to add! New players always welcome! Being LGBTQ+ myself, obviously this table loves and welcomes LGBTQ+ players! Do not expect a rules lawyer here; the rules are here for me to use as a base, something to fall back on, but ultimately we're here to have fun and do cool things. Rules can and will be waived or bent in my games - but only in the favor of the players, never to try and put you at a disadvantage. I'm here to challenge the player characters and be their guide through the world they explore. Sure, the dice gods may demand a death every once in a blue moon, but I'm 100% the party's biggest fan. This is also a space for us to escape reality; my games DO NOT include racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. either in game or at the table. It will not be tolerated. Yes, that applies to things such as "monstrous" races and their societies. There is no "inherently evil" at my table. The most realistic evil you'll see at my table are capitalists, monarchies, and player characters' horrible families from their tragic backstories. Was a professional player in Hp2Xp and isFriday livestreamed games 'Adventures in Umbranthal' and 'Crypt of the Ruby Dragon,' as well as a recurring player in shows on GirlsRunTheseWorlds! Currently running a magical girl inspired FATE game, 'Auriga Stars,' there! (also: conversational in American Sign Language, sign isn't listed as a language here)

Creating your character
DnD Beyond: I will be using 2014 rules, but you're welcome to choose between 2014 or 2024 for classes and spells! stats: 4d6 drop the lowest, reroll 1s level: 6 equipment: starting equipment, 600g to save or spend, and 2 magic items "rare" or lower. dice: you may roll digitally or physically, just don't lie so blatantly to me that i'll figure out you're lying about your rolls 😂 dndbeyond -sources: all but rick and morty, get that shit outta here, and minecraft -preferences: optional features ON, milestone, your choice of fixed or manual HP rolling
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you NEED is a mic. Cameras are great because I love having visuals and it makes communication easier for me, but they are not required! Rules, character creation, etc will happen Session 0. Character sheets will be managed on DnDBeyond, maps will be on Roll20, and if you want to connect the two for easy rolls then I highly rec the extension Beyond20!
What Altamirage brings to the table
I provide plenty of sourcebooks to use via DnDBeyond. And visuals for the setting, drawn myself! You can also commission me to draw your character. (:
Homebrew rules
Rule of Cool Reigns: Not necessarily a house rule, but just a reminder that if you want to do something fun and crazy, give it a shot! Let's fucking go!! I don't care about the rules!!! I know a guy...: If you think your character might know someone that could be helpful in a situation, make it happen! Say "I know a guy," or something along those lines, and we'll come up with this new npc that you know that can help your party. Beyond My Limits: If you want to try and do something you technically can't (cast something at a higher level that you can't cast at yet, do something that isn't necessarily a spell or ability, or some crazy shit like revive someone when you otherwise literally cannot), ask! Oftentimes, I'll agree at a cost - exhaustion, several spell slots, something else... who knows. It all depends on the gravity of the situation and the feat you're trying to accomplish. We Do It: i'd like to try introducing a new house rule/option to these games: if a puzzle, task, etc is getting too much, and you Just Aren't Feeling It and want to get through it, you can invoke "We Do It." everyone will vote, and if the majority agrees, then we'll skip the puzzle, etc. this will be limited to one per session (for now while we try it out), but by no means does that mean "let's skip everything that's a challenge". this is for if you all get stuck on something, your rolls are shit, or youre just not feeling figuring the thing out. this can be vetoed by me, but likely won't because i also hate puzzles 😂 D&D SPECIFIC Potions: Using a potion on yourself is a bonus action; using one on someone else is an action Bonus Action as Action: Bonus Actions are "quick" actions, so it makes sense to me that if you want to use a BA in place of an A you can! (so if you wanted to both BA misty step and then BA, in lieu of an A, bardic inspiration, you can!) Critical Fumbles: You can opt out if you want! I think they're fun! If you roll a nat 1 on an attack or something important, I'll have you roll a d6. if you roll a 1, you get a critical fumble - I don't have a list, I usually go by situation (oftentimes: you aim an attack at an enemy, miss, and hit a friend; OR your weapon gets stuck and you have to grab it again/etc) Making Potions: If you want to make potions, you'll need proficiency in a related tool (herbalism, alchemy, poison). Making potions is cheaper but more time consuming, as you will usually need a long rest to make them. Buying ingredients is half the price of the potion itself, OR can be foraged for along travel periods. Double Spellcasting: You can cast leveled spells twice in a turn if you so desire, Baldur's Gate style! No "one leveled spell, one cantrip" limit.

How Altamirage creates a safe table
Hard rules for all my games: NO racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, bigotry, etc. That includes fantasy versions (ie: "all orcs are born evil and therefore do x"). NO SA, noncon, torture. (Said things can be allowed, with approval, in PC backstories, and do exist in NPC backstories, but will not be directly mentioned or described) And... we're here to have fun!! <3 Will send a form pregame for lines/veils/etc. Sess 0 will include going over what kind of game everyone wants to play ("i hate shopping episodes" "i love combat" etc), touching base on things we don't want in the game, talking character dynamics, working on character sheets, explaining gameplay if new to D&D. After games, I usually chat (in call or in discord) with everyone and joke around - I always try to balance out the harsh with humor, and I check in with everyone after a rough session. X cards will be whatever you are most comfortable with. <3
