About the adventure
TLDR: Exploration and role play heavy, this full day long festival, (short campaign), provides new players a chance to learn all about the mechanics of D&D and have fun doing it. Perfect if you want to learn to play D&D, as you learn all elements of D&D - but also perfect if you like cozy, chaotic fun! This was originally meant to be an "all day" one shot, but frankly, it ends up being quite long while still rushed when trying to do it in a day, so I have adapted it into a short campaign to allow players time to explore, learn, and grow as players. I wrote this short campaign to help introduce new players to D&D, and also as a stomping grounds for people who may want to join longer campaigns, but would like to put their toes in the water first. The Sourberry Festival is a festival known for it's pie eating contest, where the prize is the bragging rights, however, the recent efforts of the nearby town, Cozy Cove, has helped the Sourberry Meadows Farming Community really grow their festival into a true fundraiser for their community. With booths, games and even food with the legendary berry itself featured, players can explore a map, learn about roleplay and consequences, in a fun way that still allows everyone to enjoy the game. This short campaign will be played during 2-3 hour sessions, the number of sessions to be determined by the players. I suspect not more than five, including the *free* session zero. The adventurers in this campaign will be able to play at least one combat interaction, and a litany of NPC interactions, which all have unique possible outcomes. You can come to the festival, walk around and then do the contest, or you can explore each booth, uncover a few small story arcs with NPCs, influence them accordingly, and then go do the contest- You can also just explore for two hours and go home, if that is what you want - the goal is a fun place to learn. If you aren't sure about cozy D&D, or me as a DM, this is a great chance to test both out. If you want to learn a little bit about the game in a friendly setting that has been tested with total newbie D&D players? Then definitely give this one shot a try. Please note - Like most of my campaigns, this is NOT one for the murder hobos - sorry - but let's make sure we all match the kind of game we want, with the kind we play we play - Murder Hobos - you don't need a cozy D&D game, haha.

About me
Hello! I love D&D (and other assorted TTRPGs) enough to not mind being a forever GM. I believe in the simple fact that this is a game, and we are meant to have fun - my first goal is always ensuring we are all having fun. In the last couple of years I have realized TTRPGs are more fun when I run the games I enjoy, and now, I am glad to say I am open for GMing for strangers (who will soon become friends!) on the internet who enjoy similar game play style and games. For game play style - I believe in collaborative, enjoyable storytelling with compatible personalities. "Rule of Cool" with roleplay and whimsy is my style. I'm autistic, if I don't know a rule, I DO know how to look it up, or get clarification on it, but I also know how to have fun and wing it in a way that makes us all have fun. I am not a great DM for RAW lawyer Murder-Hobos, nor do I pretend to be - but if cozy, whimsical, fun and sometimes chaotic gameplay sounds fun? Then let's play some freaking TTRPGs! Games are played in Discord and Owlbear Rodeo with custom maps and tokens made from character art.

Creating your character
We will create characters using points buy system*, prior to or during session zero. Feel free to come with any character ideas - experienced players are welcome to arrive at session zero with a character rolled, but murder hobos, as mentioned, are strongly discouraged in this one shot - no offense, this just isn't the place for that. * Points buy system: Everything starts at 8 points, and you get 27 points to then distribute and make your scores higher – the points scale with 1 point per level until 13. And then its 2 points per increase, max 15 before racial bonuses. Please see point conversion below for assistance. Score | Cost 8 | 0 9 | 1 10 | 2 11 | 3 12 | 4 13 | 5 14 | 7 15 | 9
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Webcams are not needed, but are appreciated, microphones to hear you are crucial. You can play on my Discord, and we use the starter friendly Owlbear Rodeo as a Virtual Table Top. You are welcome to build a character ahead of session zero, or arrive with some general ideas of what kind of character you want to play. As this is not combat heavy, lot's of unique builds can be played with - feel free to use Sourberry Meadows to test weird character builds. Please DM me with your experience, goals, and expectations, so we can make sure session zero, and following sessions, are a good fun time. Should you need help guides or help ahead of session zero, contact me! If you don't want to read books to know the rules, I have help guides that can get you started - if you struggle with reading and need to have information in a different way, please reach out - I believe in making things work, but I don't always know what is needed, let me know, and we will figure it out - and then play some freaking D&D!!
What Abbi-Gm brings to the table
I offer custom maps, which we use to play in Discord/Owlbear. I also can load tokens for your character if you have artwork for your character. Free session zero, free character assistance, and a fun safe place to talk about D&D/TTRPGs. We also have a very cool pet chat in the Discord channel full of the cutest pets ever. If you want to show your pet off, come join. I do my best to provide cool voices, or at least some variety, and will stick to a bit if we are all having fun. Character centered stories and adventures. Tailoring every game to the players and characters present. I live by the Rule of Cool, because this is a game, and we all want to have fun - so let's play some freaking D&D!
Homebrew rules
House Rules: Rule of Cool will prevail – but you need to roleplay it for me to believe it’s cool. When in doubt, we roll it out. Nat 20 on initiative chooses where they go in the order, after all rolls are revealed. Critical hits are damage doubled Drinking a potion is a bonus action

How Abbi-Gm creates a safe table
In terms of how we will use safety tools, I will use the above items, along with anything a player requests, to ensure safe, fun gameplay. Before session zero we will DM and discuss any lines or boundaries, but thankfully, the nature of Cozy means the above warnings should be sufficient to warn you of any possible issues - we are trying to only focus on things that are nice. To ensure it is in fact, nice for you and for everyone, we will make sure we collaborate to have a good game that's fun - that's the goal of a collaborative game! This campaign is roleplay heavy, this is meant to teach new players - our session zero will cover character creation, boundaries, and goals in person - after an individual discussion between myself and each player to ensure a safe space for a good fun game! Session zero will also help new players learn a few things, so we can start the campaign on the right foot. Players can learn not only how to play, but how to advocate for themselves and others so everyone always feels safe when playing. Perfect for new players who want to try D&D low risk, without having to read a ton of new books to get started!
