About the adventure
The tavern is the sort of place travelers don’t forget. Polished wood, warm firelight, a constant murmur of laughter and music. Every plate and drink looks like it belongs in a oil painting, from honeyed venison and alpine cheeses to glittering glasses of strange spirits. The owners are gracious, the staff on point and the company you share all enjoying the tavern. You as a group of adventurers arrive one night, seeking the tavern after a job well done, looking to see if you can find out for yourself what makes this taverns name drip with praise as its name leaves the mouths of those that have been here. This is a playtest group for our upcoming Kickstarter project, WIP Title: A Tavern Adrift. We’re looking for players who enjoy strong atmosphere, distinctive encounters, and giving clear feedback after sessions. The sessions will be recorded, and a good microphone and camera are required. We’ll be pulling soundbites and highlights for promotional use once the project goes live. This and the fact we will be asking for feedback after every session are the only differences between this and a "Normal" Adventure!

About me
Hey, I’m Gaige. I’ve been DMing D&D 5E for about 6 years now, and it’s pretty much been my main hobby ever since I picked it up. Right now I’m running a mix of long-term campaigns, some for friends and family, some for folks just looking for a solid adventure and a good group to get stuck into. My main focus is creating games that feel alive and welcoming. I love building worlds with a lot of depth, running stories that actually react to what players do, and setting up moments that people talk about long after the session’s over. If you’re after a flexible DM who’s got a couple of homebrew worlds ready to explore or you just want a one-shot to try something different then I’d be glad to have you at the table.

Creating your character
We build on D&D Beyond and import to Foundry. I’ll share a DDB campaign link once you book, please create your character there. Come to Session 0 with a clear concept and a short backstory ready (3–5 sentences is plenty) about: where you’re from, what you want, a few simple ideas, I have examples and plot hooks to pull from in my discord. In Session 0 we will weave backstories together, and set a couple of links between characters so the party actually feels like a party. Rules are; D&D 2024 only no UA or 3P content unless approved by me, Level 4 start, Point Buy or Standard Array, and take the default class/background equipment. Tone is grounded, humour is welcome and encouraged in the game, however joke builds aren’t. If you show up with Frodo Swaggins or Bard Pitt then we will need to rework it. If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, or have any questions message me and we can sort it out.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please join my Discord once you book, the invite link will be listed on the game when you join and pop me a message letting me know who you are and that you have joined my game! Say hello there and we’ll do a quick tech check before session 0. You’ll need a clear, listenable microphone and headphones as this is a long-form, immersive game and audio quality is one of the most important things at my tables its an immersve RP focused game and it needs to be pleasant to listen to you while we game. If you’re unsure about your mic, message me and we’ll test it together. Make a D&D Beyond account if you don’t already have one. I’ll send a campaign invite; build on DDB and we’ll import to Foundry on the day. Foundry runs best in Chrome or Firefox, so have one of those installed and updated. Check your SPG timezone and calendar as sessions run on UK/BST and start on time. Before Session 0, read the short Consent Checklist note I’ll send and skim the discord, where I will link a few handy simple tutorials for FVTT, DDB Campaign link and others to get started.
What Gaige brings to the table
You get a consistent, grounded table run at a deliberate pace. Sessions start on time, the world stays steady under your feet, and your choices have weight. I’m personable and present, I listen, I will make quick, fair rulings, and keep everything fun and enjoyable. I’ll provide a D&D Beyond campaign for character building and import everything to Foundry so sheets, tokens and rolls just work.

How Gaige creates a safe table
Session 0 is mandatory for all players so if your joining with less than 3 hours before game time we will absolutely not be able to get you in that week. We set tone, table expectations, and boundaries up front. I’ll send a short consent checklist (Lines & Veils) before Session 0 so you can flag anything you don’t want on screen and I read and respect it. If something’s not working for you, tell me early and I’ll adjust pacing or content, if I do not know then I can't do anything about it, but overall, the goal at my tables is simple, to have a grounded, serious game where you feel welcome, joyful and safe to enjoy the story.
