About the adventure
"Brought together by a simple bounty, your trek through the wild countryside of Little Ohzra leads you to the remote hamlet of Roux. But what's meant to be a relaxing stopover before the return journey quickly turns into an unsettling mystery of missing people with no clues, and a new undercurrent of a deeply foreboding magic..." A horror-adjacent PbP fantasy adventure through a gorgeous little backwoods, The Sleepless Nights will take your party on a rustic journey through an old druidic settlement and the overgrown forest which borders it. Providing plenty of opportunities for roleplay, combat, and investigation alike, players with a stout heart and an inquisitive nature will definitely find something to enjoy here. With a player-set pace, engaging NPCs, and a plethora of never before seen creatures and magical items, The Sleepless Nights aims to create an experience of mind-bending tension that will leave you questioning what is real, if anything is real at all. About me
I am a long-time writer and text-based roleplayer with a descriptive style and a love of the unexpected. I like to create memorable moments for my players so that each person has the chance to feel like the legendary hero we all want to be. I'm in my mid-30's, prefer high fantasy settings, and love throwing my own homebrews into the mix to keep things fresh and exciting.

Creating your character
Character Creation Rules: - All sources permitted except Rick & Morty, pending approval. - 2024 or any other feat-granting Backgrounds are not permitted. - Optional class features are allowed/encouraged. - Feats require prerequisites, unless discussed. - Multiclassing does not require prerequisites, but is limited to 2 classes. - One Common or Uncommon magical item, pending approval. - Hit points set to maximum possible. - Flying characters are permitted. - Standard starting equipment plus 50gp. - Stats will be either Point Buy or Rolled (best of 2 sets, min. 78 total). - For narrative reasons, certain species will be restricted to a first come, first serve basis. These species include: All animal-based species (if in doubt, ask), Autognome, Dragonborn, Drow, Eladrin, Fairy, Kalashtar, Lineages, Shadar-kai, Warforged. - For narrative reasons, a sizable number of species are barred from the setting. For a complete list, feel free to ask. But rest assured, it's mostly just the more exotic and otherworldly options. Other than Backgrounds, you have your choice of '14 or '24 character creation content. However, you will be required to stick with your choices once made. For example, if you choose to take the '14 version of a spell, you cannot switch to the '24 version of that spell later. Choose wisely.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This game will be played over Discord using DnDBeyond for maps and character sheets, and avrae for dice rolling. A DnDb campaign link for shared content will be provided once the party is formed, as will the link to the discord server. Other that that, all you'll need is your sense of adventure!
What T. W. brings to the table
I create rich, immersive environments that my players can get lost in, complicated, personable NPCs, and a world peppered with surprises both delightful and dangerous. You can expect a clear writing style which is descriptive and concise, with a focus on environment-building and sensory experience. While RAW will generally be adhered to for the sake of simplicity, the Rule of Cool is always in play.
Homebrew rules
Optional Critical Hit rule for Weapon attacks: Add 1 maximum rolled weapon damage to your regular damage roll. i.e. A critical hit using a greataxe (1d12) would deal 12+1d12 damage. Flight Rule: Characters capable of flying are permitted, but will have restrictions during combat. If a character moves more than three times their flying speed above/away from combat, they will be considered to have left the combat and will be removed from the Initiative order. Initiative Rule: To maintain enjoyment and expediency, we will be using side-based initiative in combat. This means that each member of a group will take their respective turns simultaneously, rather than individual turns for each creature. House Rule: Potions Of Healing (any strength) always restore max possible HP. This rule does not apply to any other method of healing. House Rule: If a player can make multiple attacks on its turn, and has access to Cantrips, that player may use a Cantrip in place of one (1) of its weapon attacks. This does not apply to any Levelled spells, and you may only substitute a Cantrip for an attack once per turn.

How T. W. creates a safe table
As part of our session 0, potentially triggering themes which will definitely be a part of the setting, as well as which topics which might come up, will be clearly discussed. During this conversation is when a L&V agreement can be made which meets the needs of everybody. I also maintain an open door policy with my players and encourage them to message me privately with any issues they might be having.
