Creating your character

Using dndbeyond, please create a character using standard array or point buy for ability scores. For classes, species, backgrounds: please use any published D&D official material (no homebrew). We will use a mixture of 2014 and 2024 rules. I have the 2024 Players Handbook (as well as some other books) shared to the group on dnd beyond, so all of that content will be readable if you join the D&D Beyond campaign below.

Preparing for the session

What DM Nate brings to the table

I will be building maps and encounters, so you will have something interesting to look at and interact with. I will do my best to do interesting and unique character voices to immerse you in the story. I know the rules as written very well, but I do like bending the rules a little if players have cool or fun ideas. I like to create intense combat encounters, but I love giving players multiple ways to solve or end those combats that don't necessarily involve combat.

Homebrew rules

Flanking give advantage on melee attack rolls. Potions can be used as a bonus action or a standard action. Using your action instead of your bonus action will give you the full amount of healing possible. Heroic inspiration can be used in a number of ways... give advantage like 2014, as a reroll like 2024, and as a free death save. As usual, players can give other players their heroic inspiration if needed. Crunchy Crits: means full damage + 1 roll of the damage die

How DM Nate creates a safe table

We will have a Session 0 where we discuss veils and lines. (If you joined after Session 0, then we will discuss it in private before the next game day) We will use X, N, and O's during sessions so players can share any triggers in real time. Stars and Wishes for aftercare.
