DJ does an amazing job making NPCs feel alive with their own motivations and is able to adapt to variations in the script. Combat also takes into account NPC motivations and individuals will respond in combat based on their own goals and information rather than the whole unit acting as a hivemind. (i.e a NPC combatant's brother was severely injured and instead of standing his ground he went to check on his brother mid combat causing opportunity attacks to trigger. Another time, someone was feared away and the giant with a low INT stat who wouldn't recognize the spell thought that was a signal to retreat and followed their commander). I really enjoy how well this DM keeps roleplay and dialog alive even when initiative is rolled.
