About the adventure

Prepare yourselves for one of the most immersive tabletop roleplaying experiences you'll ever have! 🎨 I combine the Talespire VTT (free for you), Soundboards, and a voice modulator in order to facilitate the atmosphere the campaign deserves. I lean in and back off of the "scarier" aspects of my game according to the needs of my players. I'm not going to jump scare a person with heart problems lol. To my "edgier" groups: I can give as much as you can take. 🌏 While the campaign is adjusted to suit the game style, I'm very respectful to both the Ravenloft and Faerun lore as well as the narrative and themes of the campaign as written. 🌈 LGBTQ+ 🚀 Neurodivergent 👨🏾👩🏽 Any Nationality/Race/Gender AND BEGINNER FRIENDLY! (though you'll probably die a lot) 🏴‍☠️ This game aims to capture the tone and themes of Ravenloft cranked up to 80s horror territory. So naturally, it contains dark subject matter. With that said, I don't use it as an excuse to be a creep, and I like to think I'm pretty good at maintaining a safe environment. I can have fun with every shade of horror. Never be afraid to contact me if the subject matter or tone is too much...or not enough. Mwa ha ha ha! 📖 VERY narrative and character focused despite how much I want to kill them. I want to kill them over and over. Just kidding...kind of. Combat is very deadly. Traps are deadlier and tougher to avoid with a simple roll of the die. Basically, I'm really trying to capture that classic NC-17 horror feel. Your characters could die at any moment (have a backup ready lol). I make all rolls in front of everyone (except things like stealth). 🎞 CINEMATIC COMBAT and ROLEPLAYING by utilizing the Talespire VTT, Voice modulators, Sound Effects, and Music (adjusted to the group's taste).

About me

Utilizing 20 years of experience as a "Forever DM" supported by a long career as a working musician and entertainer, I try to give my games an immersive, cinematic flavor. To achieve this, I use Talespire VTT (no purchase necessary) for its camera capabilities, music, lighting effects, and ambient sounds that I support with my own soundboards. I also employ voice modulators where my VA chops aren't quite enough. NO MORE OLD MAN LITTLE GIRL VOICES!

Character creation

Creating your character

I always do a FREE session zero to get everyone up to speed, but feel free to create as much as you want beforehand. You can contact me throughout the week at almost any time to go over backstory and builds. Give as much or as little as you want. I WILL USE IT!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a steam account (Free), Talespire: Guest Edition (Free through Steam) and Discord for voice.

What GMGodEmperorDude brings to the table

This is a deadly game, and it's meant to be part of the fun. Think of it like a horror movie franchise series. I use voice modulators, camera effects, sound effects, and music to enhance both roleplay and combat. I mostly try to stick to the rules with occasional exceptions for the rule of cool. For this campaign in particular, I'll be leaning into dark stories, jump scares, creepy and psychologically broken NPCS, anything to make sure I maintain an atmosphere of dread, paced in such a way that you'll never really feel like you have "downtime", even when you do.

Homebrew rules

None, really. But I do use systems for mental health disorders, diseases, etc. that I'll go over in session zero.

Safety

How GMGodEmperorDude creates a safe table

I've always just used a session 0, open door, and a half-time break. I make it very clear to my players about what content may be used, and I'm always willing to compromise for the health of my players. I love TTRPGs, and I want you to love it too. With that said, for this campaign, it's better to just assume it has all the bad things in it and then discuss hard boundaries with either the group during session zero, or just myself if that makes you more comfortable. I'm not a creep or a jerk. I want to scare you, not hurt you.
