About the adventure

A tale as old as time, you want to learn how to play dungeons and dragons, but your friends who are interested never have time and your friends who have time are never interested. We've all been there. That's where I come in. I have held the hand of many a new player, both in-person and virually. I easily translate rules nerd into common speech, and my story forward approach leaves a lot of room for experimenting with character and play style development. I've also designed many of my own campaigns and one shots, so I am happy to collaborate on more creative ideas as well. If you want to playtest a character build or work through story ideas, I'm your girl. Let me be your Math Rocks Maester; the Director of your mind theater.

About me

I began playing Dungeons and Dragons 5e in 2015. Since then I have played and DM'd multiple long-term campaigns and one-offs games within the Wizards of the Coast Cannon world. In 2020, I began creating my own world and have since led a long-term campaign in that world as well as numerous one offs. I have created speical event games, played one-on-one games, and worked with every experience level from veterans all the way down to beginner children. I am currently only fluent in English, but would be interested in playing a polyglotal game is any ones also speaks french, spanish, or portugese and has a LOT of patience and would want to be language practice buddies. We can even "make it story".

Character creation

Creating your character

For this game we will only allow one of each class. I will have some pre-generated characters to choose from, or you can create your own and I will walk you through the process. All characters should be created during session 0 using content from the players handbook. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have Discord and Fantasy Ground installed. You can use the free version for both. I will share the Discord and Fantasy Grounds channels prior to session 0.

What Jessica brings to the table

I try to do voices, though I am NOT an actor. I recently gained the ability to use ambient music, so I am trying to get that set up. I embrace the rule of cool. This is a game meant to be fun, if there is something you'd like to see included, let me know.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion as a bonus action. Modified Wild Magic Table Rules - each time you roll a wild magic "Save" the "success" range increases, Expanded outcome table is optional. Inspiration - Every character starts with 1 inspiration which can be used to reroll any roll. However, once used, it becomes MY inspiration until I use it, thus returning it to you. Travel time - for each 8 hr period each character makes a skill check based on their proficiencies and describes how that is relevant to their travel. This also acts as a group check to inform me of any encounters along the way. Skill Development - each character can spend 8 hrs working on a skill or proficiency with DM approval, this needs to be tracked on your own, after 120 in game days of practice you can gain that proficiency. A player with that proficiency can help train you as their encounter roll for the day, giving you an extra tally.

Safety

How Jessica creates a safe table

During session 0 we will go over group veils and lines. From there, we will use chat based and/or verbal X, N, & O's. We will debrief at the end of sessions, and do stars and wishes at that time as well.
