About the adventure

In darkness grim, did night wake silent. Mist-wreathed hounds lurked in the meadows, and often the moon dimmed where they passed. Whispers of a mysterious visitor appearing in taverns began to spread, promising great fortune to all who slay evil. In even more distant places, cautionary tales warn of the fog that stalks and how it leaves entire campsites empty. Something is afoot, but those are minor incidents in a world full of magic. Disregarding these remote incidents, you have bigger problems to face. A dream, unlike any other, has haunted you for over a month now. Constant through every night, no matter which bed you sleep in, this dream followed you, even in your afternoon naps. Within that dream, an old crone seems to be the only element that changes, appearing in different attire and situations. Her words claw at your desperations, your insecurities, your unspeakable pasts... She knows something about you. Two weeks into this nightmare, the old crone made you choose from a deck of cards. A promise of destiny fulfilled, the dream plague's release, and other such words convinced you to draw. You awoke with that card in your grasp and the desire to know more. She has given you the directions; you need only follow. Expect: - DnD 2024 Ruleset - Starting Level: 2 - Modified Curse of Strahd - Homebrew Rules (such as Stress Mechanics) - Homebrew Power System (Inspired by Lord of the Mysteries) --- Curse of Strahd — Cauldron of Corruption is an exciting, tense, mystical adventure. It is a vivid exploration of classic gothic horror themes and monsters, from werewolves to vampires, ghosts, and more. This is a character-driven campaign where your PC will have an incredible chance to shine and make their mark on the story your group tells. This game will feature a Homebrew System inspired by Lord of the Mysteries that will force you to fight evil with the darkness they use for their cruelties. Your desires can only be achieved by matching the depths of their corruption. Here, you are heroes, but you will also be a bunch of miserable wretches that will fight against threats and madness. Defend what little light you arrive with, and let it kindle the withering hope within Barovia. This campaign prioritizes roleplay, investigation, and relationship-building over pure combat or dungeon crawls. Think hard and talk smooth; the people, the land, and their master will show no mercy. Prepare for a tense, adrenaline-fueled experience as you face an active, powerful, and personally antagonizing villain—creating memories to last a lifetime. Come, all ye tormented, into Barovia.

About me

Welcome to my profile, bozo. Here, you'll find how my ECCENTRICITY stands as the foundation to my craft. I tried DnD in 2018, and within weeks, became the DM and have been cursed with this power since. My stories focus on the struggles of the character and the emotional turmoil that comes with them. In light we may see a paladin who blooms with righteousness, but in the dark, they are haunted by every soul they've claimed in the name of their God. My studies in psychology only deepens my interest in this kind of approach. Running games isn't just an avenue for me to display my writing; the stories that happen within my games are born from our interactions as fellow players. You are as much a writer as I am in the game. If you're the sort to enjoy seeing the growth of your character as a person, then take a seat. This table welcomes those who want to grow alongside the story, as both PC and Player. I've been DMing for over 7 years now, reaching my 8th. I hope to see more creative minds intermingle with mine, synapses exploding together to create heartshaking tales!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation will happen before Session 1, and we will be using the Point Buy System. We will be starting at Level 2, and we will be using either DnDBeyond or a Gsheet, both of which will be integrated into Avrae, a Discord Bot.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Discord and Owlbear Rodeo for this game. Make sure to make an account in both before joining this game.

What The Eccentric brings to the table

I do voices, I do music, and I embrace the creativity of my players. While I keep myself bound to the rules as best as I can, sometimes, you just gotta break the rules to do something cool. Together, we will weave a story that'll tie you deeply into the campaign, one that'll keep you engaged.

Homebrew rules

We will be integrating a homebrew power system based on the Lord of the Mysteries Franchise. There are also several homebrew rules, but they will be covered either in Session 0 or they will be listed in the Discord Server.

How The Eccentric creates a safe table

This is an open table that only welcomes open-minded people. At Session 0, we will cover the dark topics that'll arise throughout our campaign, and we'll clarify player expectations regarding what our tormented heroes will be doing. During sessions, we will take breaks to give the players some time to relax and unwind after hectic scenes, and if there are times when things feel excessive, players are free to take a step away from the table. Lastly, after every session, we can have time to discuss what happened in that session and other things that have transpired throughout our game.
