About the adventure

Icewind dale is a cold and merciless landscape of ice and cruelty. Only those desperate to escape the world dare to live there, but that's not you. No you were forced here, for crimes you committed or were accused of committing in your past. Trapped in the cold cells of the prison, Revels End, you were expected to die there. But now, somehow, you were lucky enough to escape, you ran quickly into the night towards freedom. It's now, as you sit, struggling to light a fire in the freezing darkness...that it dawns on you.... Shouldn't the sun have come up hours ago? But there is no sun rise or warmth in these lands besides that which your numb fingers are able to ignite themselves. If you want to escape this land, and the prison who's guards are no doubt looking for you still....you'll need to learn the secrets of this land, and defeat a powerful foe few would ever dare. This is a comprehensive dive into the Icewind Dale campaign from the perspective of an escaped inmate. We'll be playing through the module, and the world will be customized to your character's backstories and choices. Meet NPCs that range from fun to monsterous, and test your merit against the harsh landscape. You'll learn about the land, its history, the state of things, and of a dangerous threat that hangs over it. We started at level 1 but are level 5 now, 13 sessions in. Backup characters are encouraged but I aim for every character death to have meaning and purpose (no dying just because the dice demanded it!)

About me

Hi all! My name is George, I am a Dungeon Master and Storyteller with over 10 years of experience running games professionally for places like Forgotten Adventures, where I currently stream my games twice a week! Also I have run games professionally for corporate clients and events as well. My goal is to make enough money running games to focus on this full time, doing the math, that would only take around ~20 players a week to be able to pay the bills! Seems reasonable, so here I am! I also am open to offers or requests, if you see a game of mine but need it at a different time, send me a message! I have experiencing running the following games: Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Mothership, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire the Masquerade, Hunter the Reckoning, Cyberpunk and Kids on Bikes!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created after our session zero (or in the session zero if the players want) by making a character on DNDBeyond and then making a miniature in HeroForge.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Our session zero will be a free session and not cost anyone any money. For the campaign, you'll need to have a DNDBeyond account, a discord account, a webcam, microphone and headphones as we play online in a video call. No other software or hardware is needed.

What GloriousGe0rge brings to the table

I'll be providing a Discord server for us to chat in, weekly hand outs and visuals via video calls. Each session will have music, character voices, and sometimes I'll make custom maps (like if the players end up getting a hideout of their own). Every session will have battlemaps provided by Forgotten Adventures, along with tokens, and other map assets. To make a character you'll be added to one of my dndbeyond campaigns where you'll have access to nearly all of the published books so far. I enjoy tactical combat but absolutely roll with rule of cool.

Homebrew rules

Drinking Potions is a bonus action. When you cast a spell as a bonus action you can still cast a spell as an action on that turn. When a player is in death saves they can choose to forgo their remaining saves to enter into a last stand before dying. Ranged attacks on enemies within 5ft of you do not have disadvantage, but ranged attacks on other enemies while an enemy is within 5ft do have disadvantage.

Safety

How GloriousGe0rge creates a safe table

We will go over lines and veils via a survey in session zero, we'll also go over the campaign's themes and what players are expecting to make sure all players are aligned. After each session we'll have a check-in to make sure all players are content and to address any issues had at the table.
