About the adventure
Imprisoned without hope of escape, our heroes’ fortunes shift as a new prisoner ropes them into his escape. Fleeing the scene, the group finds themselves sailing into the mysterious Sea of the Lost, a strange and dangerous place where rogues and outcasts struggle to survive amongst spirits, demons, gods and monsters. A chance at a new life awaits our heroes, if they can brave these dangers and claim it. Sea of the Lost is a broad, open-world campaign in a nautical setting. After the introduction in session one, the party will be left with a ship of their own and the freedom to pursue their goals however they wish. While there are many characters to meet, monsters to slay and stories to be told, it will be up to the party which parts of this world they interact with and how. Players of any experience level are welcome, so long as they come ready for adventure and bring positive energy. Note: This should really go without saying, but session zero will be free.

About me
I'm a veteran GM with roughly 13 years of experience, and there's nothing I love more than creating a world for people to play in and explore. Although I've been dreaming up worlds and telling stories my whole life, my first proper TTRPG experience was in high school when I stumbled my way into becoming the head of my school's gaming club on the back of a janky system I designed myself based on The Strain Trilogy. It was a beautiful trainwreck that descended into chaos in the best way possible, but we all had a great time with it and I've been hooked ever since. I've learned a lot since those days, and my love of worldbuilding and storytelling has only continued to grow. Most of my experience is with D&D 3.5 and 5e, but I'll pretty much never turn down the chance to try a new system, either. Ultimately I'm mostly just a giant nerd who never outgrew wanting to play make believe all day.

Creating your character
Characters will be made on D&Dbeyond, using Dungeons and Dragons 5e (2024) rules and the standard array for ability scores, starting at level 3. Any players who wish to use third party content are welcome to present it to me for approval (note: any third party content owned by me and available through content sharing can be considered already approved). I am also always happy to provide assistance with character creation if asked.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need the following: -A Discord account and working microphone -A D&D Beyond account -An internet connection (obviously)
What Alex Kennedy brings to the table
More than anything else, what I bring to the table is positive energy, passion for the game, and a promise that I'll do everything in my power to make sure everyone has a good time. Typically I follow the Rule of Cool and am willing to bend the rules to make something interesting happen. I'm always happy to help players however they need, answer questions, etc. Also, as this particular campaign is very heavily inspired by music, I am happy to provide a playlist to anyone interested.

How Alex Kennedy creates a safe table
We'll be using a digital X card system. If at any time a scene moves into territory that you are uncomfortable with, type X in chat or send me a DM and I will pivot accordingly. Additionally, we'll be going over lines and veils during session zero, and there will be time to talk things over at the end of every session as necessary. In general, if players have any sort of problem they are always free to reach out to me in whatever way is best for them.
