About me
I am an 'Old Skool' D&D Player, having bought my first 'Basic Set' (yes, the red one) back in 1984. Since then, I've continued to play sporadically over the years, however reengaged heavily into TTRPGing after the rise of Critical Role. I've played numerous games as both Player and DM, however am just now getting into it on a more 'Professional' level simply as a way to exercise my creative side and simply have fun! I look forward to having you join me on one of my adventures which will no doubt be chalk full of Pop Culture references and other delights along the way!

Creating your character
First, all Sources, including Homebrew (on approval), are welcome; I own everything on D&D Beyond in addition to other content like 'Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms', 'Daggerheart', 'Candela Obscura', so feel free to suggest whatever you like! Once enough Players have joined, the Party will vote for the level and setting they wish to play in as well the way you wish to arrive at the island. Once this is done, Character creation can begin. - D&D Beyond Campaign Link will be provided*. - Make a Level Appropriate Character (make sure to set your Character to 'Public', enable the 'Optional Features' and subsequent selections, should you wish to)*. - Bonus Starting Feat, even if you take the 'Variant Human' Species*. - All Alignments are welcome, however, if you are a 'Chaotic Evil' Rogue who needlessly kills a NPC on a whim, your actions will have consequences. Additionally, actions that actively subvert the mission to the detriment of the Party, including unwanted violence against a Party Member, will likewise not be tolerated. So, if you sneak off and rob some merchant blind or, dispatch, someone in your wanderings, if it does not impact the narrative, be the bad guy. I get it; I play a Chaotic Evil Jerbeen Death Cleric/Warlock who Worships Baphomet and a psychotic Tiefling based on Rory the Reaper from the 'Gate' Anime, so I understand. I embrace the Darkness in D&D since you can't choose violence IRL without consequences. All I ask at that point is to respect the Safety Tools of my table. Magical Items will be on a 'Point Buy System' with the Level determining the pool's number* - Levels 4 - 6 = 5 Points - Levels 7 - 9 = 7 Points - Levels 10 - 13 = 10 Points - Levels 14 - 16 = 13 Points Item Cost - Common - 1 point - Uncommon - 2 Points - Rare - 4 Points - Very Rare - 6 Points - Legendary - 9 Points - 100GP in addition to Starting Equipment. - One Standard Healing Potion. - DM Inspiration for a fully fleshed out D&D Beyond Character Sheet...show me your spirit! - DM Inspiration for a Backstory to your Character. - Email me a link from D&D Beyond so that I may import into Roll20*. - Post link to the Discord 'Character Creation Channel', if you wish or keep your build secret if you want to wow your compatriots*. *If D&D Beyond does not support the chosen setting, i.e. Ryoko's, we will directly create the Character on Roll20. This will also be true for any Magical Items from such settings. Lastly, especially if the Character needs to be created on Roll20 directly, I humbly as that they should be ready no less than two hours before the game begins. If you wish assistance in advance, I am happy to schedule some time to do so!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- Discord Account (Link to game will be provided) - D&D Beyond Account - Roll20 Account - A working microphone - Webcam (Optional) - Snacks - Libation or Vice of choice, though please use in moderation; those found to be, 'incapable of playing due to their mental or physical state', will be asked to leave. Know your limits, people!
What TheGothFather brings to the table
I will provide an exciting adventure regardless of your choice. While I do many Character voices, I also have some tricks up my sleeve, so I will leave that for now! I strive for 'Rule of Cool', spirited interactions and descriptive visuals from both me and you, the Player. I want to hear how YOU flavor your Magic, Skills and Abilities. Are you Hajime from Arifureta? Or Xena? Will you embody Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery or be Shaggy and try to buy, 'medicinal herbs', from a local in a attempt to gain information for you and your party. The choice, is yours. Additionally, my Schedule is currently very flexible, including availability for alternate time zones including (GMT+1) and (GMT+10). I'm up at weird hours. I look forward to hosting you and seeing your creativity!
Homebrew rules
- Damage that exceeds a Creatures HP, taking them below zero, Roll another Attack for a Creature within 5ft of your choice; if you hit, they automatically receive the excess damage. For example, you cleave through one enemy and your weapon hits the guy next to them. - If you drink a Health Potion as an Action, it gives Max HP; if you drink it as a Bonus Action, you roll. - Drinking a Potion is a Bonus Action. - I allow Flanking and 'Dope Monk Sh*t'. So, if you tell me that you wall run, jump off and as you fly overhead of the enemy, you want Advantage cause there's an ally within 5-Feet, we are doing that sh*t! - DM Inspiration for creativity (d20 re-roll), to a Max of 3. - A NAT20 on an Initiative Roll gains you Advantage on the first Action OR you may choose to give your Initiative spot to another Character. - NAT1's will incur additional, unwanted or unintended consequences. - Bonus Starting Feat. - If you are Proficient in a Skill that another Character is going to make a Check in, you may give them Advantage. - If you have a Dexterity Ability Score above a 15, you do not need to use an Action to switch Weapons. - Hidden DM-Rolled Death Saving Throws - Your Fate is in my hands! - Character Flavor - If you want to make a 'Zatoichi Build', or Blind Swordsman, using something like 'Blindsight' for your immediate surroundings, you will still make any other Perception Checks like normal, assuming your Character would have honed their other Senses over time.

How TheGothFather creates a safe table
So, my ultimate goal is to have fun at the table. That said, even if you tell me, 'it's what my Character would say!', if it crosses a Line that someone has, then perhaps this isn't the right Session for you as I , myself have been called out in a Campaign because my Character criticized another Character and the Player was not comfortable with the interaction. Despite me having no problem with the Player, they could not reconcile the difference, so, I left. I expect others at my table to exercise the same respect that if it makes someone uncomfortable, be the bigger person and understand that there are reasons why it bothers them. So, please be empathetic to your fellow Players. Now, on the other hand, if you agree with another Player that your Character would absolutely lay into another Character where any broadcast of the berating were to air on TV it would be nothing but a solid beep and they're good with it? Have at...humor and regale me with your barbs and insults!
