About the adventure

This is a homebrew creation of mine made just for the StartPlaying Community. The setting is Darkest Dungeon adjacent, where there is an estate that was ruled by a powerful and wealthy family, the Filligans. Neighbored by the small town of Fordunn, the Verdant Estate is being reclaimed. Over the last century the estate has been abandoned by the family and commonwealth and is now inhabited by all sorts of beasts, creatures and miscreants. One Lily Filligan has tasked you with the reclamation of the estate. She hires any adventure of might and cunning, from new members of the guild, seasoned veterans and all in-between. With each foray into the estate, secrets will be revealed.

About me

Wassup! I have been GMing since I was 14, starting at a summer camp one shot as a player. Afterwards, I found myself playing with friends from across the country over discord using Roll 20, D&D beyond and Owlbear Rodeo for playing and creating characters. I would watch and listen to DND games like Critical role Campaign 2, and Worlds Beyond Number. A few years later I started getting into DMing my own Dungeons and Dragons games first starting with a one shot with a few homies, then starting a serious campaign a few months after. My 2nd campaign has gone on for over 2 years, started at the same time, each currently with 3 players, in the same homebrewed world. Over the years I've learned to believe in the rule of cool, respecting the rules of the game while also indulging in the story that we will create. Id love to play learn and play other systems like WOD and CAIN.

Character creation

Creating your character

Come with a level 1 character, using rolled, point buy or standard array stats. Should you use rolled, you may reroll 1s that are used in the set of 3 that remain after you drop the lowest. I prefer you use D&D Beyond and join the campaign so we can keep track of your character. Should you need help, feel free to send me a message before the session and I can help you make your character. There are no specific books that need to be referred to, I have some books on D&D Beyond, and should more player join that have books, they can share them.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need an account on Discord and D&D Beyond. For D&D Beyond, this will let us streamline character creation, track your character, and track encounters. Discord is how we will communicate, in a simple server that will include my other D&D sessions. There is no need to download anything other than discord. What Anthony/ELdrago brings to the table

I will do character voices, and attempt to use some ambient music. The combat I expect to be difficult, with likely a character going unconscious during one of the encounters. I am not out to get y'all, but the creatures in this Estate very much are. I fully embrace the Rule of Cool, should the table find an action reasonable and the dice permit it, I have no problem describing the outcome. Ill also provide Maps, Tokens, and hopefully a well set mood. All you all will need is: - A FREE D&D account account. (I can help) - Chrome or equivalent - Microphone - Speaker or Headset - Internet - Curiosity & Fun

Homebrew rules

I don't have any homebrew rules to list at the moment but am very open to any additions the players would like to add.

Safety

How Anthony/ELdrago creates a safe table

I will be providing a fillable consent checklist. This One-Shot won't be very intense, however its good practice to provide a consent sheet for the Lines and Veils of the game. I want everyone at the table to be comfortable when they play my games. In session zero, I will go over the expected possible issues that may come up during the game like the possibility of snakes, spiders, blood and anything else within the one shot. If you have any other suggestions on how to keep the game safe please do not hesitate to tell me.
