About the adventure
Have you ever dreamed of running off to join the circus? Are you a fan of Monster of the Week shows like Supernatural, X Files, or Buffy? Well look no further. This campaign lets you experience the wild and whimsical world of a traveling show combined with the tense and deadly hidden world of the unknown. Travel across America from small towns to big cities entertaining the masses, and keeping them safe from whatever supernatural threats hide within. Witness jugglers throw half a dozen silvered blades at a pack of werewolves. Laugh until you cry as a bloodthirsty vampire finds out the clown's flower sprays holy water. And be mystified when you learn that Madame Tanya's psychic powers are far from side show parlor tricks.

About me
Hello adventurers! If you are seeking to etch your hero's name into legend, look no further. I'm an experienced story teller with a passion for helping people bring their ideas to life. I have practice in running pre-made adventures, home brew stories, and several game worlds I've spent years developing. I can accommodate any play style from heavy rp, to wargaming, and even murder hobos. Let's build a story you'll never forget.

Creating your character
There will be a session zero in which you'll be given a more detailed introduction to the setting, and if needed, game system of Monster of the Week. After this introduction, we will work together to build up your characters. If you are familiar with the system, by all means come in with some ideas as to what you want to play, but if you aren't, no worries. I'll walk you through it.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
For this game, you will only need two things. First, a discord account. When you've joined the campaign, I will send you my tag so you can add me, at which point I will add you to a dedicated server. This is where the voice calls of the campaign will be held. Second, you'll need a Roll20 account. This is where the visuals of the campaign will be most easily available, as well as where a digital copy of your character sheet will be stored for your convenience. Both of these things are easy to set up, and do not require a paid subscription.
What Heartlock brings to the table
I am a very experienced GM with a background in acting and game play. I have a copy of the rules of Monster of the Week that I will happily share with you, and the setting and its characters are my own creation. You can expect a very story driven campaign where your character's decisions will shape the world around you in countless ways.

Safety
How Heartlock creates a safe table
As this game tends to be able to have a tense and suspenseful tone more than many other RPGs, safety is an important consideration. Before the campaign starts during session zero, there will be a discussion of what everyone's preferred method of communicating their lines and veils is, and when that is decided, that method will be implemented to make sure that those limitations are not overstepped. I also encourage players to simply say the word "Pause" either out loud, in the discord chat, or directly to me in DMs (whatever is your preference), and we will take a brief intermission to address what element of the game is causing discomfort. If the problem can be addressed and adjustments can be made, that will be done, and we will soon after move on to continue the game in a safer way, and if it cannot be handled quickly, the course of the game will be pivoted until such time as the problem can be addressed/handled. I am always happy to discuss any concerns you may have, so please feel free to reach out.
