About the adventure

Wherever they go, destruction is not far behind. They are... THE FIRE BRINGERS. ___ It all started out with a simple plan: we hit the company's warehouse before it sets sail with a cargo full of weapons destined for the Theikon front. We didn't make it out clean. Two of us met our end getting out of there. Now, those that are left are on the run from the council's justice, bounty hunters, and gods know what else. Heading north is the only option we have left. Too bad we're heading right into another war. ___ The Fire Bringers is a homebrewed Daggerheart campaign that's driven by player choice and agency in a grim n' gritty fantasy world that exists in the shadow of a fallen empire and lost magic. Players take on the roles of the few heroes who walk still upon it and have the power to bring about change. This is your story, if you're brave enough to write it. ___ Thus far, the heroes have completed a messy heist and have headed north, only to find that the landscape has changed in the aftermath of a brutal supernatural conflict.

About me

Hey y'all, I'm Chris. I'm a late 30-something Game Master from and currently living on the edge of Hillbilly Nation in the state of Kentucky. For a little north of the past 20 years I've usually been actively running, or thinking about running, some sort of tabletop roleplaying game. In 2003, I started running games because no one else wanted to play the game I wanted to. Then in 2024, I decided to take the plunge and try asking complete strangers to *pay* me to play make-believe for a few hours every week. To be completely honest, I still have a hard time understanding why, but after a couple of years of doing this at a professional level I'm starting to accept that I might be good at it. I'm a shy person by nature. I have mild stutter, plenty of anxiety, and enough self-doubt to go around -- but I also love being a Game Master. It's fun, it's creatively rewarding, and I'm constantly getting to meet and learn about new people, places, and things when I do it. Listen, I re-wrote and deleted huge chunks of this. I want to respect your time and try to make your experience fun. I want you to feel like you can relax, have a good time, and get engaged in creating a fun experience that makes your 3-ish hours with me a highlight of your week. Everything else is just set dressing.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation will be done in Session 0 as part of the modular approach that Daggerheart takes in crafting heroes for the exciting adventure they're about to go on!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will NEED the following: - A laptop or desktop computer. - A free Discord account and software. (http://discord.com) - A free Demiplane Account (http://app.demiplane.com) - A free Roll20 account (http://www.roll20.net) - A dedicated microphone and headset. These are OPTIONAL, but recommend: - A webcam. - Something to take notes with.

What WickerGames brings to the table

I use three tools to bring this adventure to life: - Roll20, for maps and reference images. - Discord, for communication, resource sharing, and ambient music. - Demiplane, for character sheets and rules references. I run a player-first table where I try to incorporate as many of your ideas into the adventure as I can, while still trying to stay in-line with the mechanics as intended (but not always as-written).

Homebrew rules

- In-game rewards for the previous session recap! - Playtest content via "The Void" is permitted.

Safety

How WickerGames creates a safe table

Players can expect a roleplay-friendly environment with a Game Master who's main goal is to make sure that you have a great time. To help facilitate that I use the following tools: - A customized version of the Monte Cooke Consent in Gaming Questionnaire to establish lines & veils. - An X-card system to avoid any triggering content. There will be absolutely no depictions of sexual assault or sexual harassment at this table.
