About the adventure
You've lived on the Bayou your whole life. The dense jungles and swampy expanses are your home. When strange creatures begin emerging and dark force threatens to destroy your home, will you be the ones to take up the call and stop it? Welcome to Bayou of Blood: A Voodoo-Inspired Daggerheart Adventure! This is a completely custom adventure designed to give any player an intriguing journey, new or experienced! There will be a good mix of Exploration, Combat, and Roleplaying to keep the game fresh. As with all my games, I will be making custom character portraits and tokens for your characters! I'll also make tokens for all the enemies you fight, as well as portraits for some of the important NPCs you'll come across.

About me
Heya! I'm Dakota! I've been running D&D games for 6 years! I'm passionate about creating worlds and stories for players to interact with, play in, and influence. I have a background in game development and design and my top priority is to make the game I run fun for my players! I try to make my games personal. I like to tailor my campaigns to the group I play with to give players a personalized experience. I try my best to include player backstories in some way, however small. I love to give each player a chance to shine and make sure everyone is included in the story. Even when I run a pre-written adventure, I always put my own spins and changes in it!

Creating your character
Characters will be made at level 1 during a "session 0" (The first meeting). Come as prepared or as unprepared as you want. Have a full backstory written and a character sheet already made? Great! Have literally no idea what you want to play? Also great!
The Party Currently Consists of: A Faun-Goblin Rogue A Simiah Warrior A Galapa-Simiah Ranger
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The bare minimum you need is a microphone! A webcam is highly encouraged, but not required. The best part of TTRPGs is the human connection to your fellow players, and the best way to facilitate that is to be able to see and hear each other! We will use Discord to handle voice and video so you will need a discord account. You will also need a Demiplane account, which is super simple to set up, but I can help if needed. You don't need to know anything about the rules beforehand! We will go over the basics of how to play during our first session and you'll learn more as we play!
What Dakota brings to the table
As a GM, I like to do voices for characters, set up scenes with ambient sounds, and curate battle music playlists! My main priority is making sure everyone has a good time and we all get to tell a compelling story together! I also create custom artwork for all player characters as well as custom battle maps, enemy tokens, and occasionally more!
Homebrew rules
This campaign will feature a completely custom campaign frame with it's own mechanic!

How Dakota creates a safe table
Our first session, known as "session 0" we likely won't actually play the game. Instead, we will discuss expectations and boundaries, create characters, and get to know each other a little better. The “Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist” is a checklist I will hand out to everyone and you will mark down what topics you are comfortable and uncomfortable with having in the game. I will adjust the adventure accordingly. The Luxton Technique and Discussion are to catch anything not covered by the consent checklist. If something that triggers you is not on the checklist, we will discuss it and I will adjust the game accordingly. Of course, a lot of things can be triggering and uncomfortable so you will always be able to adjust your checklist and if anything triggering comes up during play we will stop, discuss what is triggering, and I will adjust the game accordingly. The list of content warnings are things that are likely to occur in the adventure, but some can be written around upon request.
