Face the Fallen | The Crooked Moon: A Folk Horror Campaign.
You died, but you didn’t end up where you thought. No peace. No afterlife. Just a train ticket to a place you were never meant to be.
About the adventure
Death was supposed to be the end. Instead, you woke up here. Where hope is brittle and every choice leaves a scar. Beneath the Crooked Moon, no one escapes unchanged. Wickermoor Hollow waits in the fog, a land of rot and ritual, of memory and monsters. In this Dungeons & Dragons 5e campaign, set in the Crooked Moon setting by Legends of Avantris, you'll play a soul who has slipped through death’s fingers and landed in a purgatory that refuses to let you rest. You don’t belong here, but you’re not alone. Others have arrived, forgotten souls, broken people, once-heroes whose stories ended wrong. Together, you’ll dig through the ash and bone of this cursed place, searching for answers, chasing hope, and confronting the six Fallen: former champions twisted by their own sins, now walking echoes of what they were. Their master is the Horned King. Cloaked in fur and fire, born of sorrow and sharpened on broken oaths, he stirs beneath the Hollow. His prison is sealed behind the Fallen. Destroy them, and the chains begin to break. Set him free, and he might just return the favor. Because as cruel as it sounds, he’s the only one who can open the way out. The price of freedom is the release of something far worse. Wickermoor Hollow is a place the world forgot. The nobles of Druskenvald cling to rotting traditions and blood-soaked titles. Villagers bar their doors at sundown and leave offerings to things with far too many teeth. The woods whisper. The mist remembers. Hags with hollow eyes trade in secrets you wish you could unlearn. Wicker giants wander the hills with bones in their baskets. Cults grow like rot beneath chapel floors. The Crooked Queen dreams just beyond the veil, and her chosen already walk among us. This is a campaign for those who love stories thick with dread and beauty. Heavy narrative roleplay, haunting choices, and slow-burn mysteries steeped in folk horror. You’ll face ancient powers, cursed legacies, and the kind of questions that don’t have clean answers. Death didn’t want you. But the Hollow does.

Creating your character
Your characters will start at level 1, you can make a character before Session 0 if you like but character creation will be handled in session 0. that way I am there if you need help. I will also help tailor your character to the campaign and setting.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have the following: - access to a webcam/mic - a dndbyond account (for building characters and accessing the campaign and map/VTT) - a discord account (for playing the game)
What Joe (Phoenix) brings to the table
I will provide the dndbeyond campaign which has content sharing available so anything I own you can have access to as well, a discord server where we will play the game. I have a music bot in the server that will provide some nice background music and the occasional sound effect. I am a big believer and practitioner of the Rule of Cool and the "yes and" philosophy. Players can expect a rules light, roleplay heavy experience that focus on telling a good story.
