About the adventure
Operation Solstice Rain / Winter Scar is a high-stakes Lancer campaign set on the isolated world of Cressidium, where decades of Cold War tension threaten to erupt into open conflict. As Union Auxiliary pilots aboard the UNS-CV Rio Grande, you are soldiers, not wandering adventurers. Your missions will take you into urban combat, rescue operations, military deployments, and escalating conflicts as Union attempts to protect Cressidium and bring it back into the wider galaxy. You begin at LL0 as cadets, facing your final evaluation before earning your chassis qualification. Your first deployment is a baptism by fire, and from there your squad will grow from inexperienced pilots into a force capable of shaping the planet's fate. Combat is tactical and demanding. Positioning, coordination, mech builds, and quick decisions matter. Your successes and failures will shape future missions, relationships, and the wider conflict. Failure will not end the story, but it will leave consequences. The campaign spans Solstice Rain and Winter Scar, connected by an original Point Crawl mission. From there, Operation Tempest Strike escalates the conflict with 2–3 additional missions before Operation Equinox brings the campaign to its climactic two-mission finale. The tone is mud and lasers: grounded military operations, uncertainty, and consequences mixed with spectacular mech combat. You are not Lancers yet. You are cadets about to discover what you're capable of.

About me
I’m a GM who thrives on strategy, creativity, and cinematic moments. I design encounters that challenge players to think, collaborate, and take bold risks, whether fine-tuning a mech in Lancer or exploring mythic realms in Bastionland. I’m fair and balanced, rewarding smart, heroic, or clever play, letting players learn from mistakes, and always keeping fun front and centre. My games are immersive, tactical, and story-driven, with every choice carrying weight and every session crafted to be exciting, memorable, and rewarding.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place before the first session to ensure we can dive straight into the action. New players are welcome, and I’ll guide you through the process step by step, whether it’s your first time with Lancer or you’re a seasoned mech pilot. Starting Level: Players begin at License Level 0 (LL0), ideal for rookies just entering the field. If the campaign has already seen multiple sessions, assume the starting level will be higher to reflect prior progress. Mech Creation: Your mechs will be created using https://compcon.app/ the free character builder tool for Lancer. This will make the process easy and efficient, as COMP/CON handles mech customisation and abilities. I’ll guide you through the process and make sure everything is set up before we start the campaign. Don't forget to the install the LCP's via either the Compendium Manager or joining my server for a quick zipfile linked in the discord. Grab some sprite art for your mech from this site by either creating it yourself and sending me the custom made one or choosing something from the chopshop! https://retrogrademinis.com Tools: Characters and mechs will be imported into FoundryVTT using the Comp/Con json files for easy access to character sheets, abilities, and mechs. If you’re new to Foundry, I’ll guide you through it at the start of the session. Books and Resources: We’ll be using the Lancer Core Rulebook and any first party modules. No additional homebrew content will be allowed. I’ll make sure everyone has the tools and support they need to create a character that’s both fun to play and fully integrated into the world.

What Quiescent Solun brings to the table
As your GM, my goal is to run an immersive, engaging game while staying true to what makes Lancer work. You can expect tactical combat, strong atmosphere, and a world that reacts to your decisions. Combat is tactical and demanding. Positioning, teamwork, cover, mech abilities, and good decision-making all matter. I follow the rules closely so your choices have meaningful consequences, while making sure everyone has the guidance they need to understand the mechanics. I generally stick to Rules as Written. Consistent rules keep the game fair and give everyone a clear idea of what they can rely on. If a rule is unclear, we’ll check it and keep moving. I’m happy to explain mechanics, especially for players who are still getting comfortable with Lancer. I also put a lot of effort into making combat feel like a mech battle. I use macros, animations, and visual effects throughout combat. Grenades explode, weapons fire, core powers light up the battlefield, and major moments get the cinematic treatment. Music and sound effects help set the tone. The quiet hum of a mech before deployment, radio chatter during a firefight, or the sudden silence before something goes very wrong. The audio changes with the situation to help each scene feel distinct. NPCs are another big part of my games. I use character voices, personalities, and mannerisms to make important characters feel like actual people rather than quest markers with dialogue. Not every NPC will get an elaborate voice, but the important ones will have their own identity. I’ll give you enough detail to understand what you’re seeing, hearing, and dealing with without drowning you in descriptions. A military briefing should feel different from a quiet conversation, and both should feel different from an urban firefight. When things get chaotic, the narration will reflect that. Ultimately, I want the mechanics and the story to work together. Your tactical decisions matter. Your choices matter. Your successes and failures leave a mark. You’ll have the tools to make clever decisions, the freedom to approach problems your way, and a world that reacts to what you do.
Homebrew rules
Full Respecs You can fully respec your builds with no restrictions on any license level up. Captain Morgan You can end your turn on a piece of terrain that is smaller than you or you can have parts of your token off an edge. Falling+ Falling can happen anytime on your turn when you want it to for your own character. Makes it possible to walk off high terrain and land on the ground for zero speed. Rotate Grappling When you are grappling a character you may spend speed to move the opposing character you are in control of around your token equal to the amount of spaces they move. So if you want to move someone 2 spaces around your token, you will spend 2 speed. Solid Wrecks When a mech is destroyed and leaves behind a wreck they also block line of sight and can be climbed on. (Alongside their usual rules of providing hard cover and moving through but difficult terrain) Free Objective Placements When moving with an objective you can freely place it around you after having stopped movement, as long as it doesn't end on top of any objects that are smaller than it. The Human Spider You don't have to finish a climb on a horizontal surface - you may end your turn clinging to a wall. However, effects like PRONE or Knockback would cause you to fall and possibly take fall damage. For the most part, all other rules will be played as RAI rather than RAW.

Safety
How Quiescent Solun creates a safe table
Player safety and comfort are top priorities in my games. I strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome, respected, and supported throughout the campaign. Here’s how I ensure that: Session 0 & Expectations: In the first session, we’ll have a Session 0 where we go over important topics like tone, themes, and boundaries. This will be a collaborative space to discuss what players are comfortable with, and I’ll make sure everyone is on the same page regarding the themes of the campaign (e.g., espionage, combat, political tension). We’ll also review any sensitive or potentially triggering content, so everyone knows what to expect. Aftercare: After intense or emotional scenes, I’ll make time for aftercare, a brief check-in at the end of the session to make sure everyone is okay and to address any lingering feelings. I’ll also encourage players to share their thoughts, concerns, or feedback at any point during the campaign, and I’ll be receptive to adjusting the game if necessary to keep the experience enjoyable for everyone. Ongoing Communication: I believe in open, respectful communication throughout the game. If anyone ever feels uncomfortable or needs a break, I encourage them to reach out, whether during a session or privately. Your well-being is my top priority, and I will always work to make the game a safe, enjoyable space for all players.
