About the adventure

~~~~~ The first three weeks after launch we will play three one shots, all at level 2 or 3. Each will be a different campaign frame, and you can use the same or a different character each time. After that we lock in our favorite as a group and start a campaign! ~~~~~ Play Daggerheart with Nat! A communication scholar and game designer with a focus on small group communication whose work is featured on DNDBeyond. Join me and a crew of other players in crafting a story chosen by the players. This is a collaborative experience, especially out the gate where everyone gets input on the kind of story we're telling and what the world—and frame—is like. Inflict your backstory, your creativity, and your ideas onto the world! Once we have a direction we FLY. Daggerheart is an engine for story. It creates excellent, dramatic, nail-biting moments (especially in combat!) that will leave you shouting and your character out of breath! Come with me, Blaze Your Trail 🔥
About me
DND Beyond published Writer/Designer (check out MCDM's Flee, Mortals! and Where Evil Lives), bachelor's in Communication Studies with a focus on small group communication from the University of Washington, and over a decade running tabletop RPGs. I'm a narrative-heavy GM with deep rules knowledge, and a healthy understanding of when to bend them! My favorite things are to stir what my players give me into the main story of the campaign, and those wild moments where the whole table smiles wide. I've a strong knowledgebase of the rules, but I'm also flexible and adaptable, able to roll with any punch you throw at me—there's no rails where we're going! With over a decade of experience running TTRPGs, I've game mastered for live actual play shows for years now. I've played heavy tactical, to soap opera, to comedic romps, to deep character exploration. Every game of every style deserves a fun narrative through line to underscore the game. My favorite games to run are D&D 5e, Fabula Ultima, Blades in the Dark, and Quest, but I'm also a rules-text devourer. I love to learn new systems and introduce them to my groups. As a freelance writer and rules editor who focuses on player-facing options and monster design, I can make your wild homebrew character concept a reality! Stemming from my communication degree, safety is the foundation of every one of my games. I highly prioritize open lines of communication and want us all to have a great time playing a game that's fun for everyone at the table.
Character creation
Creating your character
Daggerheart Player Character (PC) creation is quite easy. You'll get access to all of the content and a character builder through Demiplane content sharing, I'll review your sheet and let you know if anything needs to change (there are very few ways to really mess up a Daggerheart PC, the most common feedback I give is reminding people to equip their armor). There's nothing in the official game I don't allow.
The current party
The party has chosen to explore the Drylands as the Colossal Couriers! A vital parcel service connecting the communities of the Drylands, under fire from corrupt influences that want to control the Drylands!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and mic required, with camera sharply heightening the experience. I'm running this game with a cloud-hosted Foundry Virtual Tabletop, and a Zoom call (no downloads). I also content share core rules via Demiplane, so no need to buy sourcebooks. If you're new to Daggerheart ~don't sweat it~, I'd love to help ya out, character creation in Daggerheart is a breeze.
What Nat! brings to the table
A Foundry VTT world ready to augment this story, a paid Zoom account, a Demiplane content sharing-enabled group, a game designer's perspective, thousands of hours of gamemastering experience, and the intention to have a lot of fun together!
Homebrew rules
I'm open to the playtest materials from The Void, run them by me. I also give PCs +1 damage per scar they have (the game mechanic).
Safety
How Nat! creates a safe table
Safety tools are respected and used. Proactive conversations with the GM, Lines & Veils, X Card, Breaks. The people at the table are more important than story details.
