Learn to play Daggerheart in "A Package for the Arcanist"
Deep in the ancient forest, gods' names forgotten to time, is the village of Hush. Can your party brave its perils to find the Whitefire Arcanist?
About the adventure
Who else is excited to finally try out Darrington Press' (Candela Obscura, A Familiar Problem, Critical Role's Tal'Dorei Reborn) new tabletop system, Daggerheart? We're all in luck because it's finally time, so let's go and play with our new toys! Our story will follow the Sablewood Messengers, a group of premade characters, on a mission to deliver something important to the head of a religious order of forgotten gods in the small village of Hush. Can you make your way through the perils of the Sablewood and meet with the Whitefire Arcanist? Can Daggerheart show us as good a time as some of our other TTRPG favorites? Let's find out together in this introductory adventure for the new system, Daggerheart.

About me
I've been immersed in worlds fantastical and speculative for most of my life and grew up writing way too many bits of stories to ever keep up with and recently discovered a burgeoning passion for storytelling via tabletop (including the virtual variety) and am looking to wet my whistle DMing for folks who I haven't already known for years! This is where you come in. Are you new(ish) to the world of tabletop RPGs and want to spend some time growing with a group of other (relatively) inexperienced players so we can all sharpen our storytelling skills together? Oh, you are? Great! Let's be friends and burn through some modules together and hopefully have a good enough time to start a full fledged campaign or two (or five). Most experienced with 5E, but have been working with the 2024 ruleset; Candela Obscura; or going back to my longest running (as a player) TTRPG, FFG's Star Wars Edge of the Empire/Age of Rebellion/Force and Destiny.

An outstanding GM! The campaign I'm in is the longest I've ever had a campaign go, and part of that is due to the GM. The party I'm in is on our second adventure now, and David is weaving a *thick* plot - it's so much fun. They are able to keep us (relatively) on-track while working with the nonsense the PCs pull. I didn't have much D&D experience before joining David's table, but it's been so much fun. Before any changes (glitch variants) and before session zero, he took the time to sit down with us individually to answer questions & help with character creation. The prep work that they are putting in has meant that it's been onwards & upwards the whole time! The environment of the group is so welcoming; I look forward to joining the voice call every time (even if I'm not super prepared)!
Dave is an amazing DM, always very respectful and making sure everyone has a great and an immersive time. They are very knowledgeable and always happy to explain if you don't know something. The pacing of their storytelling is great and I totally recommend, you gonna have a great time!
This GM is seriously awesome! Excellent communication and fairness and far deserving of praise! They take criticism very well and are open to help players young and old with ideas. 10/10! Will play at his table more often! Also, the table culture is immaculate. Having a true "group" feeling is tough online, but it's really cool.
Character creation
Creating your character
I have premade characters, one of which is essential to the story. However, any of them can be altered if you would like, or you can make your own level one character on the Daggerheart Nexus over on Demiplane. I will be more than happy to help with either option!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Be sure to have Discord, Roll20, and Demiplane accounts. R20 and Demiplane are under the same umbrella now, so it should be as simple as syncing accounts if you already have one or the other.
What omniphobe - David brings to the table
Since this is a Learn to Play sort of session, I'll provide all relevant materials and happily answer any questions pertaining to mechanics and the various bits of your character sheets. I personally tend to think the best way to learn is by jumping in and doing rather than giving you an hour-long dissertation at the top, and the one-shot sets things up pretty well for learning organically as the story progresses I always inject at least a little bit of homebrew in everything I run, so there will definitely be times when Rule of Cool will override Rules as Written -- and Daggerheart affords a lot of space to do just that! -- but we'll largely try to stick to RAW for the sake of learning the basics.

How omniphobe - David creates a safe table
You can always reach out to me privately in session and you will also be linked to a consent checklist so you can underscore any hard nos you may have. While this is intended as a game for adults, it's not exactly an Adult Game and we're all here to have fun, not give anyone a hard time. So let's all be respectful and should problems arise, I'm wide open.
