About the adventure

Welcome to Phandalin! Quiet and charming, the village of Phandalin sits nestled in the embrace of Faerun's Sword Mountains just a tenday's ride south from the metropolis of Neverwinter. Here, farmers toil out their days to bring home a modest reward and citizens from all over the Sword Coast come to find peace and perhaps start an adventure! You see, Phandalin has been troubled by some meddlesome goblins who accost traveler and merchant alike along the nearby road. Some have even grown so bold as to enter into the village and filtch goods from honest businessfolk! Surely something must be done to curb this threat and bring Phandalin back to its peaceful state. Phandelver and Below - The Shattered Obelisk takes the beginner adventure, The Lost Mines of Phandelver, and expands upon the original tale, building it up into a massive adventure campaign. This is an excellent place for any newcomer to D&D 5E or tabletop gaming in general to step in and become part of the tale. Battle fearsome psionicly charged goblins, meet a wide cast of locals Phandalinites ready to help you on your adventure, and uncover a plot from deep below that will decide the fate of Phandalin and Faerun itself!

About me

Hey y'all, I'm Penny your Southern gothic, trans femme DM! She/her 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ I'm an Eberron enthusiast who has been running tabletop adventures, creating new worlds, and telling stories for parties of all sizes for the last two decades. I prioritize community and party cooperation in my campaigns - no one person may save the world (or destroy it) on their own. Bringing unique, individual character stories together, melding those with memorable NPC companions, and creating dynamic challenges both in and out of initiative is all part of my recipe to deliver a campaign the party will recall for years onward. I've ran sessions for new and veteran players alike; in fact, many of my StartPlaying campaigns have been joined by players starting off on their very first TTRPG adventures. Be you old or new to the wider TTRPG universe, you have a friendly table waiting for you here to teach you all you'll need to know or maybe just polish up those old roleplaying skills. While I am a roleplaying Dungeon Master first an foremost, I do also employ a bit of "shiny" distraction in the way of high-production battle encounters and role-playing scenes. From vibrant battle maps and combat animations to dynamic lighting, sounds, and music, to fully automated character sheets that roll your dice with a single click, you can be assured you'll be immersed in the scene and not thinking about all the numbers all from behind your monitor. Thank you for checking out my profile. I hope to meet you at the table soon! Happy roleplaying!

Character creation
Creating your character

You will begin this adventure at Level 1. Please use the Character Creation Document (provided to you upon joining the game); it should hopefully answer most character creation questions. There will be a DNDBeyond Campaign Link for these new character sheets to be built in. You do not need to own anything in DNDBeyond; I own all of the content we will use for this session, and it will be shared with you. We can discuss character stories, themes, etc. before the session and during Session Zero. If you have any questions the guide does not answer, please feel free to DM me to discuss.

The current party

Join us at the Stonehill Inn, in cozy Phandalin village each Sunday evening @ 7:00 PM for ale and adventure! ---------------------------------------------------- ⚔️Our party will begin at 1st level using 2024 5E rules.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Players should prepare by reading the Rules and the Character Creation Document found on the Discord, creating their character sheets in DNDBeyond via the campaign link as soon as possible, and checking out our FoundryVTT server's invite link where they can join with a free account. If you like, feel free to familiarize yourself briefly with some of The Sword Coast North's lore. **You will need access to the following** - A desktop PC or laptop. - Discord, headphones, and a working microphone. Webcams encourged. - A free DNDBeyond account. - A reliable internet connection. I have found Edge or Chrome run FoundryVTT well for browser options. - You, and a willingness hop in and roleplay!

What Penny May brings to the table

I will provide you access to our campaign's virtual spaces in DNDBeyond, Discord, and FoundryVTT. As our adventure will be entirely digital, we can travel light on supplies, and I'll pack everything needed to get going into the jungle! Please review the list of items above for all necessary tools.
