SHADOW CROSSES MINE || inclusive + encouraged ||
In a post-apocalyptic world filled with myths, legends, and beings, humanity must learn how to carry itself on the back of willful homosexuals.
About the adventure
The world, as we know it, ended a little over 60 years ago. Surprisingly enough, not because of a nuclear holocaust or Mother Nature taking her rightful vengeance, but a secret third thing: Magic. Mistress Magic reared Her mystical head and exhaled a hurricane of unharnessed energy across the mundane world. Some called it The Rapture, but those that drowned in Her Miracles soon learned Heaven did not await. Unfortunately, the majority was crushed underneath Her might, as were their creations-- technologies, infrastructures, civilizations, idolatries fell to their knees and then crumpled into the ground. Mistress Magic demanded to be praised like She had in the Olden Days. Over the century, She summoned her children and their follies-- the creatures of folklores, myths and legends, and the fae-- to inhabit the planet, and humanity has done what they can to hold their place against these characters they used to laugh about, now hiding from their powers as deities. There is a debate with everyone met on what the correct next steps are: do they fight or coincide? Small civilizations thrive, nomadic tribes explore, and despite it all, hope persists. And even if there weren't, love could still be found. Love kept, and keeps, these communities strong. Love is humanity's magic. Nowadays, humanity is actually learning, to some extent, how to fight fire with fire, learning the mechanics behind manipulating these nonscientific particles, making it into their own arts-- they can wield magic and are evening the playing field. Outside of magic, humans still wield their usual weaponry with the bow, the arm, the tongue, the pen, and of course, the sword. Communities across the globe regularly send bands of some of their finest to meet together for a coalition in secret to figure out how to fight against the figments of their imaginations that now roam the earth. That's where you come in, you, Thirsty Sword Lesbians. You are a part of this coalition, and you must help the world keep turning.

About me
Two things to me that make a great community are food and stories, which are both brought and shared at a table. At my table, I want your hunger for curiosity and creativity to be satiated. My tables are also safe places, where all sorts of ideas are welcome. I want everyone to walk away feeling heard. However, I do not tolerate bigotry and prejudice at my table; any and all BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, Disabled/Chronically Ill, and Neurodivergent folx are welcome and encouraged at my table. Different and new perspectives bring rich stories. With a decade of TTRPG experience, over half that time in the GM's seat now, I consider myself to be a teacher and a student, willing to guide and willing to learn. My favorite systems are Monster of the Week, and I'm a big fan of running Play by Post games. I'm a Virgo/Libra cusp, a Trekkie, and have a dog and two cats.

Creativity
urv is always fair and open for input when it comes to their games. a joy to discuss ideas with and a giving collaborator. you can easily tell that even though they charge for their services, they are in it for the love of the game. speaking of money, they are always flexible with pay schedules, financial hardships, or other hindrances. all good vibes here.
I joined a game of Urvys to continue my PbP obsession, and I was not disappointed! They are a great storyteller, the npcs we interacted with were fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Urvy is excellent and puts in a lot of work to organise the game and help your character shine. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!
Character creation
Creating your character
With regards to character creation, it is best to come to Session Zero with an idea of what type of character you want to play, maybe even two. Together, we will build our cast and prevent overlap when and where possible/wanted. I will provide core materials and character sheets for those who do not have their own! Some of my favorite things for character creation are mood boards, aesthetics, playlists, tropes and media reference. This gives me a chance to dive into your character and figure out how to best torture... I mean, love on them and give them a great life!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In order to play, you'll need to have a Discord (free), access to Google Drives (free), and a microphone. While a webcam can be helpful for communications and is preferred, it is not necessary.
What Urvy brings to the table
As a storyteller and game master, I plan to narrate and guide the table through a land, providing options, helping brainstorm strategies, and bringing ideas from players to life in our collaborative tale. I like to ask questions-- my creativity is curiosity driven-- and use questions to develop characters, relationships, and the world; it's important to me that all hands are on deck when it comes to how the world works, because we're all living in it for a few hours a week. I do attempt to do character voices and will be on camera to try and embody them with my posture; however I'm by no means trained so sometimes they come out a little silly. I like ambient music, but prefer to stay theatre of the mind in most cases; from time to time though, I'll share game maps and bits of art in the Discord server to help establish aesthetic and tone. Discord also offers a whiteboard and jam space to add visual clarity in cases of combat or as necessary. Overall though, I prefer to lean into the Rule of Cool as long as it's not a game breaking call and something everyone agrees on. Things I will provide include references and game rules, a tracker for character sheets, and safety tools-- as well as a messy time for some chaos queers!

How Urvy creates a safe table
For Safety Tools, we will use a fluid Lines and Veils documents, made out on Sheets, so everyone will be provided a link and able to edit. This same sheet will be used throughout the campaign to help maintain accountability and to be adapted as needs arise. I also have an Open Door policy, where it is perfectly acceptable to reach out to me whenever you feel necessary, and while it might be uncomfortable, I am okay with being called out and held accountable in a group setting, if need be; I feel that's a solid way for everyone to learn together, and I want to do right by everyone, ever evolving. With the provided Discord channels, there's constant opportunities to discussion! I also have Stars and Wishes forms for players to express changes, desires, and things that thrill them; I encourage folx to take advantage of this as it is another direct line of communication to me, if for some reason you don't want to approach with Open Door-- perfectly acceptable! Also, if wanted, I am happy to meet before or after sessions, or schedule necessary time, if vocal conversations should be wanted. At the start of sessions, I will check to make sure everyone has their character sheets, dice, and the Safety Tools accessible. During Session Zero, we'll go over all of this information thoroughly. Please never be afraid to ask any questions. I believe clarity and curiosity drive our communication.
