About the adventure

Embark upon Faerûn’s shifting sands and snow‑capped peaks, where the whisper of ancient ruins and the calls of warbands beckon the bold. Your party rises from obscurity, each adventurer driven by a unique purpose—be it fortune, fame, redemption, or secrets yet unknown. From the sword‑lined streets of Waterdeep to the shadowy depths of the Underdark, every choice carves your legend into the very map of Toril. As fortunes shift and alliances shift with them, the only limit is the reach of your ambition. Forge your own path in this sandbox, open-world campaign: mingle with the Harpers in Neverwinter or broker pacts with Zhentarim lords along the Shadow Coast. Choose your allies, define your goals, and let the tides of magic and politics guide—or challenge—you. Begin as green recruits, learning that even the humblest tasks can alter the course of history. As you grow in power and renown, new horizons unfold—from the deserts of Anauroch to the enchanted forests of the High Forest. With no capstone to your journey, ascend to face draconic overlords in the Mountains of Ice or unravel planar mysteries in far realms beyond the Sea of Fallen Stars. Every milestone you conquer unveils fresh roads to travel and legends to claim. Answer the call, heroes: Faerûn awaits your story—boldly chart its course, and let your deeds echo through its ages. _____________________________________________ This campaign is player-driven. It will contain a list of adventures that are homebrewed mixed with some classic modules from the 1980's retrofitted for the 2024 5e rules. Should you wish to create detailed character backgrounds, these could be leveraged to impact the story arc and character development if the player opts-in to this.

About me

I’ve walked the realms since the days of first edition, back in the misty age of the 1980s—but that’s not the tale you’ve come to hear, is it? No, what you truly seek is the experience. Take a seat by the fire and lend me your ear, for I see the same restless spark in your eyes that lit mine all those years ago. If you’ve ever lost yourself in the pages of a fantasy tome, or watched heroes clash steel beneath storm-dark skies, then you already know the call. That deep, undeniable yearning to step into the story—not just read it. To feel the weight of a sword in your hand, or trace your fingers over the brittle vellum of an ancient spellbook. To behold mountains that scrape the heavens, and to ride snarling beasts through emerald forests older than time. Yes... I know that call well. No more waiting. The winds of Faerûn stir once more, and destiny is calling your name. Let's go...

Character creation

Creating your character

• The first session will be Session "0" and will not be charged (free). We will use this session to go through character creation rules, guidelines, and goals that you as a player has for the campaign. We may also use this is a short primer for those whom have not used DnD Beyond before, and how to navigate the DnD Beyond Maps VTT. • We will use session "0" to discuss character backgrounds, which can be utilized (if you wish) to be a part of the storyline through the campaign. I will offer hints on how to short cut the process by levering AI tools like ChatGPT. • A link to a DnD Beyond Campaign will be provided, giving you access to all 2024 core sourcebooks and 2024 expansion material. • Point Buy for Abilities. • Everyone starts at 1st level at the first official session. • A list of DnD Beyond character setting options will be provided. • No time to build a character? No problem. I have choice of several than can be provided.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

• This is an open world, sandbox setting where you can choose where you go and what you do in the land of Faerun, the Forgotten Realms. • Reccomended for Intermediate experience and higer players - Those that have played a few games of D&D, but not neccesarily experts. You know your way around a character sheet well enough. • OPTIONAL: You are looking for a game where your character's background has an impact on the campaign. You either want to collaborate with the DM or be completely suprised as to what awaits your character based on your history, your relationships and goals. • Your looking for a game where it's not all scripted. You expect the DM to "roll-with-it" when you detour to something interesting. You want Faerun to be your oyster and carve your own destiny for reasons that are your own, and tailored by the DM. • A free DnD Beyond account is required. • A free Discord account is required to join my Discord sever. • A computer with a microphone is required. • A very strong internet connection is required. • A computer with a camera is optional. • Please disable any browser components used for 3rd party VTT connectivity to DnD Beyond to lessen technical issues during gameplay (e.g. Beyond20 is not needed). We will be using DnD Beyond Maps that are fully intergated with your DnD Beyond Charaters created, ensuring a smooth experience that is focused more on the action and less on technical issues. Great for people new to the VTT experience.

What Starwood Adventures (Oscar) brings to the table

• All 2024 digital sourcebooks (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual + some expanded books) will be provided once you have joined the DnD Beyond Campaign. • I use music and sound effects to help build the experience. The focus is always on story first, mechanics second. I take character backgrounds into account where it makes sense in the story if I can. • Most games will always aspire to provide an equal balance of every areas of enjoyment - combat, puzzles, and role play. I try to ensure there is something in every adventure for everyone, and will alway try to ensure everyone is getting attention and being heard. I use elements of sound effects and music to set the mood and align with the action. Using DnD Beyond's platform means a solid, consistant, and simple experience that you won't find with other VTT systems which are complex and often buggy. • We will start with a session "0" to discuss safety at the table, as well as take stock of all the different skill levels from players to we can ensure the group as a whole has fair expectations as to how we can support each other at those varying levels. We want everyone having fun and it takes the group to help in this process.
