About the adventure
The wood has become afflicted and monsters stalk the once peaceful wood. Help has been called for by the woodside hamlet of Vercrest - will you be rise to the challenge? - Explore a detailed and lovingly written world - Save a town from an encroaching evil - Discover the history of nations wracked by war - Uncover the secrets behind ancient powers - Weave a tale with a passionate and experienced GM Session Zero is free! Twenty years ago the balance set upon Nelath and its great Vorrelwood was thrown into a violent disarray. Within the deep heart of the wood something stirred and the sky broke upwards. Magenta lightning ran between shattered glass-like clouds only to still, sickly light filled the area beneath the break, streaks of rain hued pink by the break above fell but never struck the ground and a deafening hum filled the air. The first of what would be later known as a Manastorms had appeared and with it came the Shardbroken: Wildlife and people that had been caught within the storm only to have it twist them into monstrosities whose bodies were wracked with magenta crystal. These Shardbroken show no signs of who or what they were previously - with an unknown force driving them violence on any non-Sharded entity they meet. This storm would serve a precursor of what was to come: More magical monstrosities, more storms, larger and more spread out each time. This has set the future of a city upon the edge of the wood, Vercrest, into an uncertain chaos. In response to this the town's leadership has put out a call: "Guardians needed, pay and lodging included, arrive at Town Center by tenth bell on Norin'kel the sixth." The guardians her call reaches gather, then. Whether for coin, for valor, or because they have nowhere else to go doesn't matter. They'll be set on a path that defines the fate of Vercrest, of the wood, and of Nelath itself. Will they be able to broker safety for the village? Will they be able to figure out what dark forces have caused the magenta colored storms that threaten the region? Will you be able to uncover the secrets of the Shards of Eternity? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shards of Eternity is a wholly custom adventure set within the universe of Voilen that will take a party from levels 1-14, starting with the threats posed upon the hamlet of Vercrest. About me
Hello! I've been playing TTRPGs/Roleplaying in various forms since I was in Middle School - ranging from D&D 3.5E to Freeform Written RP all the way to completely custom-made systems wherein the term 'homebrew' might not be pulling its weight. I've been DMing with at least one session a week since 2010 and have spent years dedicating myself to making sure that I run engaging, fun, games for my players. My foremost focus as a DM will always be on player enjoyment and helping people go through the path of experiencing a fantastic story. Sometimes this involves tactics-focused combat encounters and others it involves engage roleplay with intricate characters on either side of the alignment chart - it really all depends on the players and what they seek to gain from play. I want to have an open table full of unique, diverse, individuals that want to be there and I hope that I can bring you in on that!

Creating your character
Characters will be starting at Level 1 (we will only be there for the first session, I promise) and utilize Standard Array for stats. Additionally, we'll be utilizing D&D's 2024 5E Ruleset - including all of its mechanical changes. Session Zero will be dedicated to introduction to one another as well as character creation - meant to help build some team synergy and encourage people to either make characters together or in line with the world you'll be playing in.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and Microphone will be required as that will be how we utilize our communication. A (free) Roll20 Account and a (free) DnDBeyond Account are also both required with me willing to help set up both during Session Zero if need be. The Beyond20 extension for Firefox or Chrome is recommended, but not required.
What Travis O'Ceallaigh brings to the table
I will bring most major Sourcebooks unlocked via DnDBeyond, complete custom combat and world maps on Roll20, and a Discord that'll allow you to message and communicate with your fellow players between sessions - as well serve as a community hub for likeminded players. Additionally, through use of Discord Bots I'll be providing scene-setting music and through myself I'll bring a whole bunch of enthusiastic voice acting! As a GM I bring a wide imagination, an improvisational set of skills and a mindset that it's my job to make sure everyone at my table have fun - if you want to try and get something done or made in a certain way I will do my absolute best to work with you to make sure it can happen! Finally, during Session Zero we'll establish characters and help form a party with ties to the world
Homebrew rules
I utilize different-than-PhB Prices for almost all of my shops, and shopping will be an RP affair where you talk to the shopkeeper in character. Beyond that, the standard Combat House Rules I utilize are: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zVudBY8803tFxR1ykWbyjOoXBPGjBoClK_W4B2Kx-6k/edit?usp=sharing I may also make calls in the moment that aren't necessarily RaW (Not necessarily just for Rules of Cool, though). If I make decisions players disagree with, we can discuss it after the session.

How Travis O'Ceallaigh creates a safe table
I enjoy playing out the world around the characters as much as I do the actual combat. While there will be plenty of chances for riveting battles expect there to be a lot of chances for your character to interact with the world and change the course of history through their involvement. Also expect a lot of Roleplaying and interaction both amongst your fellow players and with NPCs that populate the world. I work hard to run a beginner-friendly and inclusive table. To that end I do not accept racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. in my table at all. If this is a problem for you, I would recommend looking elsewhere. The table is a place to have fun, and I will do everything I can to make sure my players can do that.
