With a genre very reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, One Piece, or Our Flag Means Death (now with 1000% more magic!), this swashbuckling adventure is perfect for players of any experience with D&D 5e. Gather your crew, fly the jolly roger, and set sail on the sea of starlight!
I hope you'll join me on an adventure through my very favorite setting! This campaign uses Pirates of the Aetherial Expanse by Ghostfire Gaming, where you'll sail a sea of liquid magic searching for treasure, thwarting empires, and gathering the best crew in all the Expanse. Met Kai at GenCon and sat at one of their tables for Tales of the Valient and their ability to improv and role with the punches in and out of combat is always a joy. And then sitting at a table of theirs online is no different. Kai does such a great job with creating an amazing story, making players feel included, and overall a recommended GM! What I think always makes is a game is when the Dm cares more of how the world fits with the character. And Kai does an amazing job. Most dms are very concerned about fun flavors, afraid most players will try to break the game. This is not the case with Kai, they trust their players and you can really trust them with your characters. Each character I make. Both me and partner put a lot of heart and soul, and Kai will take care of them and make sure everyone's having a great time

Kai excels at creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for players, ensuring everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves in the game. Their storytelling skills, along with their diverse range of voices, truly enhanced the immersive experience. Kai adeptly guided me in fitting my character into the setting while still encouraging creativity. I never felt excluded and had an overall fantastic experience. I'm eagerly looking forward to joining another campaign with them soon!

Gameplay details
🎮 Game information will be distributed in my Discord server, where we will have a private area along with a community space to chat with others (friends and players of mine). 🦺 In your Preparation Materials, you will receive a link to the Solace Gaming onboarding form, where I share my own Lines & Veils and collect them semi-anonymously from players (only I will see what you write) to make our final list. ❎ During games, we use what's called an X card. If something is happening in game that is making you uncomfortable for any reason, either say "X Card" or privately message me "X" and I will move the topic away, no questions asked. 🏴☠️ There are certain themes that are central to the text (and the piratical theme) and cannot be avoided. In the setting, two imperial nations vie for power as they colonize the lands across the sea. Much like in contemporary piratical stories like Pirates of the Caribbean and Our Flag Means Death, the colonizers are the villains, and as pirates, the player characters will have ample opportunity to sabotage, fight against, and/or humiliate them. Additionally, the story begins with a shipwreck after a large naval battle. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ As a trans, queer GM myself, I want my games to be a place where everyone is welcome and can bring their full selves to the game. I run an assertively welcoming table for all genders, orientations, ethnicities, abilities, and identities. If that bothers you, this is not the table for you. 🚪 Most importantly, I operate with an Open Door policy. I’m always open to feedback, whether about gameplay mechanics, narrative direction, or interpersonal dynamics. How will character creation work
✅ Core 5e Content (from either 2014 or 2024 Player's Handbooks) and Pirates of the Aetherial Expanse Content is automatically allowed, and expanded 5e and 3rd-party content is open to discussion and review by me - I do own many resources that I would be happy to share if you would like to look at 3rd Party options! 📋 Any format you would like for your character sheet is fine by me - PDF, D&D Beyond, etc. I just ask that you send me a link or file for approval ahead of the game and keep it updated and shared with me as we level up. ⭐️ We will use the milestone leveling system, granting you a new level upon completing different quests and story landmarks. The adventure is designed to take characters from Level 1-13. 🌏 I want your character to be part of this world! Chat with me in Discord while you're building your character and their backstory. I can suggest people and places to connect your character to that are already in the adventure, and/or weave NPCs and story arcs into the campaign based on what we discuss.
