About the adventure
The setting: Once the heart of a golden empire, the Scarred Lands are now a shattered frontier-twisted forests where magic warps the air, crumbling cities haunted by fiends, and buried vaults of the doomed Aeurion Empire. Four centuries ago, their reckless experiments tore open rifts to the unknown, unleashing a cataclysm that left only blight and bones. Now, the rifts are sealed… but the scars remain. You are a pioneer - a mercenary, scholar, outcast, or a fool bold enough to reclaim these cursed lands. Tasked with founding a new settlement on the edge of the unknown, you'll explore a vast frontier, discover lost secrets, fight off adversaries, and claim resources to build up your town. Campaign Structure: The campaign will feature 10–25 players adventuring out from a shared settlement to explore the wild, mysterious Scarred Lands. Each session, a party of up to 5 will choose a direction - to chart unexplored territory or delve deeper into known points of interest. Sessions end with the party returning to town, keeping characters ready for their next outing. There is no limit to how many sessions can be scheduled each week - my availability is consistent and I'll post any changes at least a week in advance. Every two weeks, players will vote on how to develop the settlement, using resources gathered on expeditions. Constructing new buildings unlocks new powers, bonuses, and strategic options. But you're not the only ones with a stake in this land — powerful factions and rival nations are watching closely, eager to sway or subvert your growing community. Explore. Build. Fight. Shape the future of the Scarred Lands. Drop in and out as your schedule allows — all are welcome in this ever-evolving, player-driven world. Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been DMing various systems for the last 20 years. I believe that the most important aspect of any game is for the characters to be able to affect and be affected by the world. If you choose to play in one of my games, I'll work with you to create a character that is tied to the setting in some way - typically by means of membership of an organisation, or guild giving your PC a unique resource of quests, hints, services and allies to call upon. When I run a purchased adventure I always try to expand upon the options the players have creating other locations and NPCs for the group to explore and use to their advantage to create a more unique experience instead of it feeling like you're just one of millions treading a preprepared path. When I'm running a homebrew campaign, I like to ensure that there is always a lot of plot for the characters to become interested in - local politics/tensions, individual goals from the PCs, requests from allies and a main plot that will extend through the campaign. No one particular 'quest chain' is vital to pursue, as I believe that a fundamental aspect of the game is to be able to choose what ways you want your players to shape the world.

Creating your character
Character creation sessions will be set up in advance of players first game. If you're new, we can make your character from scratch together, if you're an experienced player you're welcome to make a standard 1st level character yourself. - Uncommon/Rare options are fine, but please double check in with me as usual.
This is a placeholder session and will not be charged. Actual sessions will be booked as and when players wish to form an adventuring party - for full information please see the campaign discord or feel free to message me directly. https://discord.gg/yA7W8gCQ
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Requirements: Discord with mic. Willing to enjoy sessions as a team - helping everyone to have fun together.
What Stephen brings to the table
Sessions will include: -Background music and sound effects depending on the region of the world you're in (you can toggle these off if you wish) -Highly detailed battle maps for combats. -Official art for monsters -A reward system for dedicated players - a sketch of your character, full character drawing, 3D model etc. after attending a certain number of sessions. All rewards are hand-made by my wife a dedicated artist. The campaign will be for 12-25 players, but each adventure will have a maximum party size of 5. The intention would be to have several sessions each week, with no maximum or minimum number of sessions that each individual player is required to attend. This flexibility means that you're able to take several weeks off when you have upcoming deadlines or on holiday, or to play several times in one week with different players if you wish.

How Stephen creates a safe table
Everyone will be sent a consent checklist before we start a game, and I'll ensure that regions that could contain potentially sensitive topics (spiders, fiends, cults etc.) would be advertised as such beforehand to people who have indicated that they don't want to be exposed to such issues. Due to the sandbox/west marches style nature of the game, no player/character would every be compelled to explore a region of the world map that may make them feel uncomfortable.
