About the adventure

-=GAME STARTS MAY 2nd=- What starts as a simple escort mission turns into… Why am I attempting to write this? Lost Mine of Phandelver is THE quintessential D&D starter adventure. It comes WITH the starter kit for crying out loud! If you don't know what this is, you can look online and read much better descriptions of this adventure than I could ever write. So just leave this tab open, google “Lost Mine of Phandelver” (or LMoP like the cool kids do) and I’ll wait here until you’re back. Avoid spoilers! Welcome back! Sounds cool, right? I hope you didn’t get spoiled; I mean, I warned you. LMoP has everything: roleplaying, combat, puzzles, traps, a hard to pronounce name, and did I mention roleplaying?! While LMoP is balanced across these pillars of D&D, because I come from more than ten years of improv, I enjoy focusing most on roleplay. It's why I fell in love with D&D, so I’m hoping that part of the game will fuel your enjoyment as well. You and your fellow adventurers will be traveling to several locations, building the story together and meeting all kinds of characters (good, bad, and a little in between). You will get the chance to kill monsters, run away from monsters, befriend some monsters, and perhaps ride a monster? Whatever you like! That's the beauty of this game. Please join me as we set out on this amazing campaign, telling the tale together and watching your characters grow from a level one noobs to a level five spell-casting, sword-swinging super noob! Maybe I should have written a better description. We will start with a FREE session 0 to build characters and discuss game expectations, wants, and needs! After that, we will dive headfirst into the adventure!

About me

Hello, everyone! My name is Ryan, and I am obsessed with D&D. I am a professional illustrator and improviser based in Los Angeles. I started my D&D career as a player about a year ago and instantly fell in love with this game, and I decided that the best way to share my enthusiasm was to start being a GM. I will be using these unique abilities to draw people to D&D and show them why it is the greatest game ever created.

Character creation

Creating your character

• If you are unsure about character creation, that's fine. We will spend session 0 creating characters together. • If you like to build on your own, you can do that too! Create a level 1 character using the new 2024 PHB with a standard array on DnDBeyond (I will share my 2024 PHB)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

• Mic • Webcam (optional) • DnDBeyond for character sheets and rolls. (You will need AboveVTT plugin - Chrome or Firefox) • You can roll real dice too, if you like. I trust you (until you roll 5 Nat 20's in a row)!

What Ry-Guy brings to the table

• AboveVTT (Plug-in for Chrome or Firefox) • DnDBeyond for character sheets. • I use the Rule of Cool in my games. (If you want to do something in the game that sounds cool, we can bend the rules a little.) • Music to set the mood • I encourage my players to try new things with their characters (ie, voices, actions, etc) and to be bold with their choices • I do character voices and use improvisation to help build the world, set the tone, and give life to NPC characters.

Homebrew rules

• Disadvantage on Opportunity Attacks. • Crits are MAX damage of dice plus the roll
