About the adventure
Astray in the Mosaic is a 5e campaign that makes your character backgrounds essential. Those backgrounds and the players' preferences are incorporated into the story arcs that make up the campaign. Challenging and unique combat encounters will be peppered into this heavy role-playing game. This high fantasy campaign will consist of several story arcs that focus on one or two characters at a time. It will offer adventure and exploration, while the players get to explore who their characters are while acting heroic (or not) in a world under threat from the forces of evil (expect to some legendary D&D monsters). This game is open to players of all levels of experience, including beginners, who want to craft a fun and meaningful story together.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello! I’m Ron, a Game Master focused on providing engaging role-playing, exploration, and challenging combat encounters. I customize games to suit player preferences while ensuring they have agency within the D&D pillars. My RPG journey began with AD&D, and I've been running games nearly as long as I've been playing, covering most D&D editions and currently running D&D 5E, Pathfinder 2, and Daggerheart. While I'm no rules encyclopedia, I prioritize "rulings over rules" to keep the game flowing, correcting any missed rules as we go. One of my favorite aspects of RPGs is collaboratively building narratives with players, integrating character backstories into our campaigns, whether homebrew or published. I believe that if you're paying for a DM, you deserve professionalism. I’ll be punctual, prepared, and respectful, treating you as a valued customer. I communicate well and am easily reachable between sessions. For online play, I use tools like Foundry VTT, Roll20, Discord, DNDBeyond, and Demiplane/Pathfinder Nexus. If you’re looking for a fun and satisfying RPG experience, give one of my games a try!

Creating your character
We'll begin with a FREE session zero during which we can set up this campaign to be successful and long-running. Over the years, I have learned that players like to bring unique and valuable characters to the table. We will try to avoid building characters that are too similar or identical, so players don't feel like they're stepping on each others' toes. So, in session zero we will have an open discussion about what ancestry and class each player wants to play. And, players can certainly play the same classes or ancestries. I won't prohibit duplicates. I just want to give players the opportunity to have a character that is distinct from the rest of the party. After character classes are settled, I will ask the players to write a background and complete a questionnaire about their character before we have our first gaming session. These resources will allow me to incorporate character-specific plot elements and locations into the game. All classes and ancestries are permitted (except ancestries that can fly) and stats should be rolled by the Standard Array method. Please no stats higher than 19. I love to help players create and embody characters they love and pour their energy into!
What to expect
Preparing for the session

What DM Ron brings to the table
With my D&D Beyond Subscription I share my resources with players like the 2024 PHG and DMB. I set up our game on Foundry VTT, where I have hundreds of maps and scene art, including many that are animated by some of the best map makers out there! Additionally, I set up Foundry with great music and ambient sounds through my Syrinscape subscription. We will use my Discord Server for video and audio (use of a camera is optional for players). I have established a great, positive Discord community where the players from all of my campaigns can interact and have fun.
