About me
Want a DM who can elevate your D&D game to amazing new heights? You've found them. I'm Casey, your professional DM. I'm the DM other DMs like to play with. As a gifted voice actor with years of experience, I inject life & character into my NPCs. That's just the start. As a TV & Film writer, I know how to draw your PC into the narrative, their backstory, wants & goals, for a 100% tailor-made playing experience. I also bring immersive music, sensory-filled narration, and a creative mind trained for improv. If you want deep character RP or wacky adventures, my games are full of chances to role-play, solve mysteries, and face monsters in inventive ways. At our table, rulebooks come second to Good Storytelling. Exploration & RP outweigh combat, but it plays a fun part! Come for a *spooky* good time, I love scaring PCs with frights tailored around their Lines & Veils. (You're always, *always* going to be safe at my table.) My inclusive, easy-going style guarantees an incredible experience for players of all kinds. I look forward to telling amazing stories with you! Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Storytelling
Sets the Mood
Casey is a great DM! The atmosphere and story telling, combined with great voice acting, is an incredible experience I look forward to every week. They also take the players' comfortability and feedback into consideration which I appreciated a lot. I recommend their games! :)
Casey is an enthusiastic and talented GM. He combines an ability to create a distinct tone with an inherent sense of timing and pace to move the narrative forward. The balance between world creation, storytelling and gameplay is always a challenge but Casey makes it look effortless. He peppers his settings with fine details and a clear sense of direction, while allowing plenty of PC roleplaying and flexibility. On top of all this Casey is a talented voice actor in his own right, making his NPCs and general narration a special treat above and beyond the game play he facilitates.
Character creation
Creating your character
Players can build a level ten adventurer, with plenty of opportunities to level up for future one-shots. The game is *brutal* but rewarding. PCs can be set up on DnDBeyond, for use on Roll20 with the Beyond20 browser add-on. Home-brew classes have been fine so far, and are subject to approval.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A mic is required, a webcam is helpful but not required. Players will need (free) accounts on Roll20, DnDBeyond, and our Discord channel to have full access to everything for the game. Players should have an approved PC ready before our first game, and be familiar with D&D5e rules. We *are* compatible with 2024 rules as well.
What Casey brings to the table
Custom maps, access to Roll20 and DnDBeyond, my personal Discord channel, and 'cheat sheets' for those needing the rules. My storytelling is *immersive*. I use cinematic music & sound, dramatic storytelling, and recorded cut-scenes to produce a truly unforgettable gaming experience. Slaydium Games is all about *combat*, and plenty of it. You'll be in the fight for your life within the first hour of gameplay. We allow home-brewed classes so long as they're not broken, and the Rule of Cool frequently prevails if it helps the story.
Homebrew rules
Casters can use Silvery Barbs once per encounter- marked by the ending and re-starting combat initiatives. You must see your ally in order to take advantage of a flank. (Corgies cannot flank an elephant.) The advantage between Medium-sized champions applies only to creatures Huge or Smaller. *Friendly Fire* Making a ranged or melee attack at a hostile creature grappling or flanked by an ally runs the risk of hitting the ally if: a) it misses the hostile's AC by 1 or rolls a critical failure b) it meets or exceeds the ally's AC (barring a nat 1), and c) the attacker fails an even/odds roll. The attacker then rolls damage as normal on their ally. When using wild shape, grappling requires a form with hands or limbs with grip.
