About the adventure

You're sailing atop the canopy of an endless jungle ocean with your rocket powered chainsaw prowed boat. You and the other crew members have heard that the legendary pirate king has reappeared after a hundred years. You've set sail to find him - if he truly is Ibar Krakenkiller, the king of pirates, then perhaps the legend of his hidden treasure is also true. Even if it isn't true the bounty on his head is worth risking everything. The wildsea is always dangerous but you've entered the Dread Sea of Ibar that was known for being cursed long before his supposed return. The pirates of Captain Ibar prowl the seas terrorizing the island cities-states, horrific beasts lurk in the jungly depths beneath your ship, and you'll have to explore the cursed ruins on long lost islands to find the clues you need to catch the pirate king. Join us for a swashbuckling sailing adventure in the wildly creative setting of the Wildsea! There will be lots of action, roleplaying and exploration. New players are welcome! The system is very easy to pick up and allows for making great stories together. The first session is free so try it out and see if you like it! Check out the setting on their website: https://www.myth.works/collections/the-wildsea-homepage General vibe of the game - Pirates of the Carribean in an absolutely unique fantasy setting. Cannons, swords, ancient railguns from the lost civilizations beneath the jungle sea, Moth people mercenaries, cactus people bounty hunters, mushroom people steampunk engineers and more!

About me

Hello there. You can call me Vin. I'd love to GM a game for you and make a story centered on your character! I've been playing and GMing ttrpgs for many years now. Since I was a kid, I've always loved creating epic stories with a group of friends. I used to GM a lot of Dungeon World and really enjoyed playing the many "Powered by the Apocalypse" games. I love fiction first systems and the stories they allow us to co-create. Nowadays I'm enjoying the "Forged in the Dark" games. I tend to prefer fantasy settings inspired by the Silmarillion or the Stormlight Archives but I also enjoy settings inspired by warhammer 40k, post-apocalytic weird west, or futuristic mechas. The campaigns I run tend to be more upbeat and lighthearted punctuated by tragedy and darkness with stakes that start small and ramp up slowly. If the campaign goes on for a long time things eventually end up going epic. High stakes action, drama, treachery, dancing at the inn to the bard's tune, exploring mysterious netherdepths, a deep conversation between PCs and NPCs in character are all things that come up in my games. Not all my games are like that but that's where I gravitate without player's feedback. My scheduling is very flexible as long as I have 2 weeks notice. So feel free to contact me if you're interested in different times. I can understand and speak most latin based languages at varying degrees of proficiency. If you're interested in using an RPG to learn or practice English feel free to message me. Session 0 and the first session always free so you can see if the campaign and the group are the right fit for you!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will try talk about character ideas as a group in the discord channel and I'll be able to help you build your character and explain the basic rules either via text or voice chat on discord. We'll also try to have our ship designed and built before the first session. At the beginning of the first session we can wrap up any loose ends and jump right in to the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need to make a Discord account which we'll use for voice chat and optional video. You'll need to make an account on roll20.net to have access to maps. You'll need to make an account on the wildsea charsmith which we will use for character sheets: https://wildsea.charsmith.com It is recommended that you download the free ruleset on the wildsea website: https://www.myth.works/products/the-wildsea-free-rules-kit

What Vin brings to the table

-Voice acting -Rule of Cool -Imagination - wild creatures, places, scenarios, magic items -Escalating conflicts, multi-stage boss fights -I'm rooting for the players - but making it hard for you makes for a great story for your characters -Your character won't have to die if it isn't a narratively appropriate end for them -collaborative world building - You'll have ample opportunities to exercise creative agency over the world if you enjoy that -consequences for your actions - what goes around comes around -I'm able to homebrew at your request if there's something not available that's of interest to you I own the core rule book and the expansion "Storm and Root" so you'll be able to build your character using the options from each of those. I use discord for voice and video (video is optional for you but recommended as it's easier for me to GM when I can see the players.) We'll also use roll20 for maps. The core rules for wildsea are free on their website: https://www.myth.works/products/the-wildsea-free-rules-kit There is a high quality community character generator available for free as well that we'll use for character sheets: https://wildsea.charsmith.com I use Kenku FM on discord to have music, ambiance and some sound effects - you can mute it if you don't like it.

Safety

How Vin creates a safe table

So we'll do some session 0 stuff before hand on the discord channel. We'll also have a lines and veils sheet that you can fill out before the first session. Then we'll wrap that stuff up at the beginning of the first session and jump into the game. We'll during the X, N, and O cards during the session. We'll take a 10 minute break about halfway through the session. After the session in the discord we'll do stars and wishes for the next session.
