Alhmer's Adventuring Academy
Pathfinder 2e | Campaign
About the adventure
"From the Desk of Headmaster Amedeus Alhmer: Welcome New Students, These past five years have been very confusing; with magic popping up all over the place, many of us are finding it difficult to adapt to this new environment we live in. That is why I and my esteemed colleagues founded the Alhmer Adventuring Academy where our motto is “You’re never too old to learn new tricks!” Very punny if I do say so myself. " You have received a letter of acceptance into the inaugural class of the Alhmer Adventuring Academy within the Talcinus Empire. The school has been founded by the former Miezon Arcana, Amedues Alhmer, after the major Arcana storm five years ago. Working tirelessly alongside an impressive staff of experienced and well-traveled adventurers of dozens of backgrounds, Pr. Alhmer has promised to offer a wide curriculum for students experiencing a sudden magical surge or those who simply wish for a more practical education in the Arcane and Adventuring career paths. The Academy has been approved by Emperor Talcinus and the members of the Talcinus council who have reached out to various officials of other countries and territories of the world of Cawdor. Many believe this to be a good opportunity for goodwill between the global communities. Others worry that it's the prime opportunity for spies of all types to get the upper hand in a silent tension between nations. No matter what side, all of Cawdor is still reeling from a catastrophic event five years ago when unnatural earthquakes tore apart the ground and meteors rained down from the sky. Shortly after, dozens of people across the world suddenly began showing signs of magic and arcane abilities, even though no sign of magic ability had been seen before. And for some who already had an innate arcane ability, some seemed to grow rapidly. Now is your chance to master your own newfound abilities and perhaps learn about the mysterious event that has flipped the world on its head.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Creativity
I have been playing in Meg's game Hell's Hoard for months now and I have enjoyed every session of it. I was more familiar with D&D 5e initially but Meg was really patient and helpful as I got used to the new system, even taking a bit of extra time to help me understand how the combat system, action economy and such works here. Hint 5e players try it, its GOOD. As for her style? That's my favorite part honestly. - Heavily detailed and complex storylines and NPCs, a obviously intricate and lovingly crafted homebrew world. She uses both maps and beautifully woven verbal descriptions to set the mood and listens to her players when they ask questions or seek to go a little off the beaten path. - She strikes a balance, keeping the story moving without making it feel rigid or linear. Even during story arcs for specific character she makes sure to draw in the other characters in some ways actively engaging ALL the players and their characters. And thats one of the best parts I think. She weaves other characters into parts of your characters backstorys in ways that seem subtle but fit and draw the whole party along for the ride, everyone being naturally interconnected into different parts of the story so they are motivated naturally to work together. Meg is a DM with attention to detail and a passion for it. She definitely strikes me as a rule of cool DM with a heavy focus on immersion and a love of story telling. I fully and wholeheartedly recommend her for both new players and those who are looking for an all human inclusive DM with a talent for well balanced high adventure TTRPG game. (Yes, she does combat well too and keeps it flowing and balanced but the player is more interested in highlighting the other parts, admittedly. 😅)
I'm glad my first foray into Pathfinder 2 was in Meg's game. Not having played the system before, I was worried that it would be too "crunchy" or overwhelming, but Meg guided us through the process really well. She struck a good balance between explaining the rules and systems, but at the same time not throwing too much information at us all at once. You can also really tell how passionate she is about world building, which, as someone who loves storytelling and learning about new places and people, I really appreciated. Definitely looking forward to more games with Meg ^_^

How will character creation work
Character creation will be discussed between myself (the G.M.) and the player so that they are able to understand how their character might fit in the campaign while also giving the player creative freedom. This will also allow them to be able to keep any surprises/ secrets from other players until an opportunity arises to reveal them to enhance the story.
