About the adventure

⭐Dakota Territory near Deadwood 1876 Reckon you’ve got the grit to face what’s stirring in the Black Hills? It all starts with a bar brawl at the Bull's Head Saloon... But before the bruises even heal, gunfire erupts, shattering the eerie quiet of Pactola, a tiny mining settlement nestled deep in the Black Hills of Dakota Territory. The uneasy silence that follows is worse than the noise. The land itself feels like it’s holdin’ its breath. Folks are whisperin’ about shadows movin’ where they shouldn’t be, about somethin’ unnatural crawlin’ up from the dark places of the earth. It ain’t just tall tales or miner’s fears; there’s a wickedness out here that no one rightly understands. This place once gleamed with dreams of gold strikes, but now it’s barely hanging by a thread...folks whisperin’ of a darkness far worse than any outlaw. The miners dug too deep, found somethin’ that ain’t natural, and now the whole town’s fixing to pay the price. Whatever’s crawlin’ out of the hills, sure as hell ain’t friendly. So saddle up and steel your nerves, because this frontier ain’t for the faint of heart. There’s a battle brewin’, one that’ll take everything you’ve got to see it through. Load your irons and answer the call. The Wild West’s depending on those brave enough to stand tall against the horrors of the deep. Will you rise up against the coming storm, or let the shadows claim the Wild West for their own?

About me

"Grab a hot drink, a seat around the fire, and listen to my cowboy song." "Comfortable? Good! Now, before we get started, I want you all to know that I tell my tales for your enjoyment and pleasure... so please respect each other and don't enter this area if you desire to cause another harm. If someone's pain is your objective or entertains you... You won't make it past the opening credits of our story." [About me: Having been in (often teaching) the Arts for over 25 years, I really enjoy teaching, and I understand how and love to foster creativity in players!] --Experienced GM/DM/ST for roughly 35 years. I have professionally run hundreds of games over multiple systems. In that time, I have learned that it is the players' story and I am just here to facilitate that experience and make it run smoothly and be as entertaining as possible. I see game rules as a way to keep on track and involved...I never let them get in the way of creativity or the group's enjoyment! I came to StartPlaying looking to run some serious and/or seriously fun sessions. My story telling style is light and flows easy. I do not let the mechanics detract from the experience, but use them to enhance the story you want to be told! Teaching new systems to new players is an experience I enjoy. We were all new players, or new to a system at one time...and without kind and proper guidance we probably wouldn't still be involved in this amazing pastime! Roll well and see ya around!

Safety

How DuChampion (JJ) creates a safe table

This will be an open door game, if you need to take a break, for any reason, please do so!! All I ask, is if you can, please mute your mic so I know you are out. -Any use of "out of character" Racism, Sexism, or Discrimination or Personal Attacks of any kind will get you banned. -Players who do these things repeatedly "in character" are discouraged/warned/and subject to being (quickly) kicked or banned. -If you do not follow the “Fade to Black” rule you will be kicked or banned. **Fade to Black Rule** During the game, if there is ever an event, situation, or anything that as a player makes you feel Please say “Fade to Black” (same as N card although sometimes I don't see the chat right away)and that scene will end. I will not ask, I will not judge, I will take control and respect this choice. No story is worth paining someone!
