About the adventure

Rumours bound of places with great riches beyond the imagination of any mere mortal. Many have searched for centuries, and well some minor sites have been found, nothing so far has compared to what is rumoured to exist. The Rockseeker brother's are one such group looking for these riches. Gundren Rockseeker needs to get back to his brother's asap as he heard word they may have found something. He has hired you to transport some supplies to a small town near his brother's well he takes off ahead to see what they have found. This is a homebrew version of the starter module "Lost Mine of Phandelver". Most changes to the module will be to better incorporate characters backstories. Being homebrew this game will probably last significantly longer then the typical 10 sessions Lost Mine's takes to finish and continue even after we finish all module content. If it continues after the plan is to follow the rest of Phandelver and Below The Shattered Obelisk module Welcome to all skill levels. This campaign is voice only.

About me

Discovering D&D 10 years ago changed my life. I remember being so excited to play, that before I even finished reading the intro to the PHB, I tried running a game for my cousins. Well not a perfect game, I forgot to give their character backgrounds, I got to introduce my cousins to one of their now favorite hobbies. I took a brake from DM after that; however, always intended to try again. 6 years later I tried DMing again and fell in love with it. Now 4 years after trying DMing for the second time I'm ready to help you learn how to play my favorite game.

Emma does a great job creating an immersive world for players to enjoy. Creative storytelling, challenging combat and a welcoming game environment.

Clare avatar

Clare

Emma is a friend of mine but also a great DM. She introduced me to D&D and was really good at teaching me how the game worked not just telling me what to do. I feel in love with the game because of her. I highly recommend her games, especially for new players.

Character creation
Creating your character

Character creation can be done by yourself or with me prior to your first session. Starting level will be 1; however, if you are joining a game after the first session your level starting level may be higher. Min/Maxing is okay so long as it makes sense for you characters story. I will be reviewing all characters to confirm they are following the rules.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You will need a functional mic and access to discord and D&D Beyond. Otherwise you just need to come to your first session with a created character. We can schedule a time to meet to help you create your character if needed.

What Emma brings to the table

We will be using D&D Beyond and discord for play. I will be providing maps, tokens, music and all things necessary for play. My GM style is tailored to my players, this means if I find the party is enjoying a high combat game I will add more combat to the game. If the group enjoys a more roleplay heavy game I will increase the chances to roleplay. We will float in between the rule of cool and rules as written to allow for players a chance to get creative with their choices but without going so far as to break the game especially in favour of magic users.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules are on a group by group basis but most of my groups at least use bonus actions to drink healing potions

Safety
How Emma creates a safe table

Safety tools are used to help keep the game running smoothly and safe for all players. I have checked off a few that are my default for playing to make sure things are okay; however, if needed more will be added to make sure all players are safe. Below are the ones currently in the game: Breaks: a break will be taken about half-way through every session and when requested by players Debriefing: after each session we will have a discussion of what happened where emotions can be expressed Open door: players are free to step away from the game whenever they need too X,N,O: players can type these in chat to express if th are okay in emotional scenes, if scenes are becoming a bit much or if the need a break. All will be explained in more detail before any session that contains new plays or when I feel it is needed to be expressed again.
