About the adventure

Step right up to the Witchlight Carnival—where wonder, whimsy, and just a hint of menace await behind every curtain. In The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, players are whisked away to a magical fair unlike any other, where nothing is quite what it seems. Rides twist through illusions, lost memories whisper through the breeze, and the rules of reality bend with laughter and light. But the carnival is only the beginning. Hidden behind the festivities lies the Feywild domain of Prismeer—a fractured realm ruled by eccentric hags, mischievous tricksters, and creatures of storybook strangeness. Whether you choose to solve problems with clever words, curious items, or a well-timed fireball, every choice matters, and consequences ripple like echoes through a fairytale gone sideways. This is a Dungeons & Dragons adventure like no other: rich with roleplay, teeming with unique characters, and driven more by heart than hack-and-slash. Expect a story of lost things, childhood wonder, and surreal enchantment—where your imagination is the true key to success. So grab your ticket, hold your breath, and follow the music. The Witchlight Carnival is open, and the Feywild is calling. Your first session is free. I love working with beginners and players of all levels. Come join me in exploring this fantastical adventure.

About me

Cats. Tea. Fishing. Kayaking. Books. These are some of my favorite things. But really, hello, I am Daniel. I hide behind my cats and will frequently have them purring into the mic during session. Yes the kitten here is Sir Oliver. I have been playing TTRPG since my brother introduced me to AD&D in the mid-80's. It was hard finding people to play with in my small Wyoming town, so I started to host and DM my own games. I have been a DM for about 30 years in most versions of DnD. I look forward to hosting you and seeing what worlds we can build together.

Sir Oliver is a lovely man and a fantastic DM. He excels with pacing. He gently pushed us along when we'd get sidetracked with silliness. That isn't to say he doesn't allow silliness, because goodness, does he ever; he just knows how to rein it in and move forward. He was having fun with us, which was nice; a lot of DMs on Startplaying treat sessions like work they'd rather not be doing. Oliver is invested in all involved having a good time and makes it easy to relax and have fun. If you're on the fence with joining one of his games, jump on in. His grass really is greener than that other guy's, and it's been mowed recently, so it has that fresh grass smell.

I can't recommend Oliver enough, I really loved all of our sessions! The world-building is really immersive, filled with colourful characters and descriptions that make the game very engaging while allowing for a lot of fun roleplay. Lots of different and interesting directions for things to go. Always feels like a safe space where everyone is just there to have fun, (feedback is always welcome). As a newbie player myself this campaign has been a fantastic introduction to DnD.
