An incredibly welcoming and talented GM who openly encourages you to help build the worlds together with him. I was brand new to the Masks system and feel so welcomed at his table. He is always asking great questions, asking for cool details and giving everyone the chance to contribute and have the spotlight. His games are a highlight of my week and I would strongly recommend anybody joining in for these games.
David is a really great GM. He makes a point of including player feedback and information when designing sessions. During part of our MotW campaign, when one of our characters was based around Norse mythology, he made sure to include this as a part of our mysteries. He’s also very considerate of player safety. He periodically checks in about the established lines and veils to see if things need changing, and is always willing to stop if needed. I mentioned having been in a car accident, while investigating a car accident, and he was quick to check that I was fine with the content. All in all, I have had a wonderful experience with David!
David allows the players to be extremely creative in both building the world, creating characters, and in the creativity of personalizing your character in how they attack, emote, and advance the narrative. It's been a pleasure working and playing with David in the evolving, cooperative narrative we as a group are creating.
Character creation
Creating your character
📝 You will have access to the character playbooks before your first session. 🕒 At the beginning of your first game session, everyone will introduce their characters and discuss their relationships with one another. Rather than front-loading backstories at the start, we'll keep backstories to a minimum, and we'll detail them during play.
🕒 Long-term open-ended campaign. Ideal for players who can commit to the schedule. The campaign is intended begin mid-August. 💬 Our first session together will be a Session 0, charged at the usual rate..
What to expect
Preparing for the session
📝 To prepare, pick a playbook that hasn't already been chosen, then start thinking about your superhero's name and look, answer the backstory questions, and select your abilities, moves and extras. 📜 You don't have to have read the rules beforehand. The rules are easy to pick up and will be explained as we play.

How David creates a safe table
✨ The aim of this campaign is to have a fun collaborative storytelling journey together and to have a positive experience interacting with others. To this end, players are expected to be compassionate, supportive, and respectful of others. 🎭 Masks tells a specific kind of superhero story, one where teen superheroes all chose to be on the team, don't resort to killing to solve problems, aren't openly hunted by the authorities yet, and aren't beloved by the city. 🚦The game might feature characters falling in or out of love, or facing romantic rejection. All this all be veiled, at the equivalent of a PG-13 rating. Therefore, nothing explicit or NSFW (not safe for work).
