The Conspiracy: A Campaign of Cosmic Horror

Delta Green, Call of Cthulhu | Campaign

About the adventure

Step into the 1990s as a fresh FBI graduate thrown into the shadows of the unknown. You weren't just recruited for any team; you joined Delta Green, a top-secret organization tasked with a critical mission—protect humanity from mind-rending cosmic horrors and paranormal threats. As an agent of Delta Green, you are humanity's last line of defense. Investigate, uncover, and eliminate monstrous threats before they unleash unimaginable terror. But be warned, this duty comes at a cost. Every encounter with the unknown brings you closer to madness or death. The true question is not if you will fall, but when. Join this thrilling RPG experience, blending the investigative horror of Call of Cthulhu with the suspenseful intrigue of X-Files. Praised for its exceptional setting writing, Delta Green offers intense gameplay and beautifully crafted handouts that immerse you deep into its chilling narrative. Will you safeguard humanity, or will the darkness overcome you?

How to prepare

Players will need a mic (webcam optional). They will not need to read or own the rules or create characters if they do not want to. Think of a concept for a character in federal law enforcement who would join a secret organization to combat the cosmic horrors.

What I provide

I bring: - Foundry Virtual Tabletop - Soundtrack - Ambience - Weather and other special effects - Animated die-roller - Rulebooks - Character sheets - Handouts by professional graphic designer - Character tokens. - Maps

Gameplay details

In a typical session, the PCs will get a mission from their superiors, very often a mystery that has to be investigated to identify and eliminate the unnatural threat that has entered our world. That means a lot of detective work for the characters. And sometimes, they will have to break the law to destroy monsters. Note that this is a horror game, which at its core deals with characters who are subjected to physical and mental trauma, and the effects thereof. That said, the goal is to subject the characters to these trials, not the *players*, though players *should* be comfortable with getting scared or creeped out during the session. I use Monte Cook's Consent in Gaming safety tool, and will be asking players to submit the checklist and communicate what are hard lines or veiled content for them. As written (and this can be adapted), the setting contains: *Bugs * Blood * Gore * Harm to animals * Torture * Unnatural scientific experiments on animals and humans * Racism * Self-harm * Terrorism * Torture

How will character creation work

We will use Session 0 to discuss safety indepth, as this is a game about cosmic horrors. Characters will be traumatized by their experiences, but players should not be. During session 0, we also generate characters, and players should collaborate to create characters that can work well as a team.
