About the adventure

Uncover the secrets binding cursed Barovia, forge uneasy truces with desperate souls, and survive long enough to face the immortal vampire lord who delights in stalking your every move. Escape isn't a matter of simply running; you must unravel the mystery of the curse and confront Strahd himself. The shadowed valley of Barovia mourns under Count Strahd von Zarovich's undead grip. Walls of mist swallow the borders, sunlight is non-existent, and the vampire lord reigns through fear. Those drawn into Barovia find themselves prey in a centuries-long game; Strahd doesn't simply kill his victims; he savors their despair This is roleplay-heavy gothic horror where atmosphere and morally complex choices define the campaign. Will you break the curse, or become another soul lost to the mist?

About me

Your story, my world. Let's make something unforgettable. I've been running TTRPG campaigns professionally for over a decade, and here's what I've learned: the best stories happen when your choices actually matter. I don't write scripts. I don't railroad. I build Etharis; a living, breathing high-fantasy world with deep immersive lore and marks left by all my past tables, where the game system is just a means to tell our tale; and then I hand you the wheel. You want to betray the quest-giver? Burn down the tavern? Charm the villain and turn them into an ally? You can certainly try. I come from a background in film and game art, so I treat every session like a production. Professional VTT setup (Foundry), custom maps, reference art, and enough prep to improvise anything you throw at me. Whether you're a veteran looking for deep roleplay or a newbie who wants to learn in a welcoming space, I'll meet you where you are. My games go from gritty intrigue to bombastic heroism; with just enough absurdity to keep us laughing years later. If you want a GM who listens, adapts, and narrates stories with you instead of at you, let's talk.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll go over character creation during session 0, focusing on the character's narrative backstory and motivations, as well as goals that may be achieved within the mist. Characters will be created inside of Foundry VTT, rolling 4d6 for each stat, removing the lowest die and re-rolling any 1s. We'll talk about party structure and possible initial bonds, and how their arrival at Barovia will happen. Players that join after the first session will go over the same process during a shorter free 1 on 1 meeting outside of game hours. Their characters will begin already inside the mists, and we'll figure out who they are and how they got there.

The current party

Current party consists of three characters of 5th LVL. An Aasimar Cleric of light, a Kenku rogue thief, and a Thiefling Paladin of Glory.

What Martin (The Fate weaver) brings to the table

This is a table for players who want their horror with drama, mystery, and meaningful character moments; where roleplay shapes the story just as much as the dangers stalking you through the fog. Barovia is harsh, lethal, and claustrophobic, but our table keeps things collaborative, atmospheric, and deeply personal, with space for quieter moments, tense discoveries, and the thrill of surviving by wit and instinct. This thriller adventure leans into narrative tension and high-stakes combat. You’ll explore a cursed valley filled with strange allies, haunting side stories, and choices that ripple across the campaign. Expect a blend of grim survival, slow-burn mysteries, and opportunities to build bonds with NPCs and party members alike. If you enjoy immersive horror, cinematic encounters, and a table that balances tension with creativity, you’ll fit right into this fight for survival through the mists. The following benefits are provided on each session, making constant improvements to elevate the experience: • Foundry VTT and a variety of curated premium modules. 🕹️ • Custom maps designed by hand. 🎨 • Archivist AI's, providing an interactive lore keeper. 🤖 • Recording of each session, privately uploaded for players and their friends to relive, with an overlay of reactive PNG portraits, dice rolls and more! 🎥 • In session music, ambience and sounds. ♫ • Personalized Homebrew specific to your character's development. ✨ • Character driven story, focusing on role play and narrative. 🌟 • Immersive and deadly encounters with high stakes and impact. 🚨 • AI generated and curated images for portraits and locations. ⚙️ • Out of session question answering and community assistance. 🕓 ---- Sign up perks ---- • Bring a buddy promo! Each game that you play in you get to bring a person for free! Share the joy of a one shot, or a small glimpse into a campaign you are part of with your IRL friends. This invitation can be used multiple times per player, but only when bringing in someone new to the server and registering to the game through SPG.

Homebrew rules

**Crucible of Fate** Everyone will roll a D6 at the beginning of a session. On a roll of 1 to 3, they belong to the player's pool, otherwise, they go to the GM pool. After rolling any D20, but before knowing the results, players may use any number of Fate dice available in their pool, adding them to the total result. Once a die has been used, it goes to the opposing dice pool. Some character abilities may require the use of Fate dice. **Deadly criticals** On a natural 20 attack roll, weapons and features deal full damage and roll their dice on top of it. **Soft criticals** When an attack exceeds the AC by 10 or more, all damage dice are maxed. The damage benefit can be changed into a grappling or shoving check on top of the regular attack's damage. **Heroic spellcasting** As long as a leveled spell is used as an action, a non-damaging cantrip may be used as a bonus action. **Actually useful helpers** The help action can only be provided if a creature is proficient in the skill check. **Alternative skills** Players can request to use a different stat for a skill check as long as it's justified by narrative. **Druidic knowledge** Druids can roll nature with wisdom as their stats. **Clerical understanding** Clerics can roll their religion checks using wisdom instead. **A sip of that** Creatures may drink potions as a bonus action. If they use their action instead, they gain the full benefits of the item, without rolling. **Life improvements** Living a good lifestyle will grant bonuses like temporal hp, additional hit dice, etc. depending on the type of pleasure and the cost of it. **Evolving cantrips** Your non-scaling cantrips will get better as you level up, based on the [Evolving cantrips PDF]( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R1BhBtKxTHR4WfsIkX5nKnXgkCj9CeXa/view?usp=drivesdk) **Heroic points** As a reward to daring actions, great roleplay, or amazing ideas, you'll be awarded a heroic point, which can be used as a free action to gain one of the following: - An automatic success. - Infuse double damage on an attack check - Make one normal action as a legendary action outside of your turn. - Bend the rules of the world slightly These unique effects must be described as an epic moment. **Ritual resurrection** Except for revivify, any other resurrection magic will require a ritual, where multiple creatures make skill checks. **True curses** The remove curse spell only shows you the way of removing a curse, be it a ritual, a quest or any other form of story development. **Clashing mana** When a spell is dispelled or counterspelled, there's a chance for the magic to cause a random mishap. **Working economy** Monetary values for the setting have been adjusted to reflect a real working economy, with actual uses for copper and silver coins in everyday life and lower levels. **A whole new world** The species of Etharis have been changed from traditional 5e D&D. Racial traits have a place and impact on the lore, life and religion.

Safety

How Martin (The Fate weaver) creates a safe table

Everyone's opinions should be heard and respected at the table, approaching roleplay with a Yes And open mentality. No comments on real world issues such as politics or religion are allowed during game time. Cameras will be encouraged, and accommodations will be put in place upon requests. We'll make use of a lines and veils rule, fading to black and resolving the outcome on a narrative form. After each session we'll take 5 minutes to go over wishes and requests for characters to go through, as well as a little bit of feedback and thoughts about the session.
