About the adventure
[Dungeons and Dragons 5e - 2024] This is a D&D 5e 2024 campaign with a main focus on investigation, mystery and role-playing. It is for the most part focused on urban adventuring. All the inspiration material is drawn from AD&D 2E and everything is custom made. Details: Welcome to the Free City of Greyhawk, the Gem of Flanaess and the heart of this Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition campaign. Set in the sprawling metropolis known as the greatest city in all of Oerth, this campaign promises a unique blend of urban adventuring, where the labyrinthine streets of Greyhawk become the stage for thrilling escapades and dark mysteries. Campaign Themes: Mystery & Investigation: Beneath the bustling markets and grand towers of Greyhawk lies a web of secrets waiting to be unraveled. From enigmatic cults lurking in shadowy corners to ancient relics hidden in plain sight, the city is a living puzzle, and you are the key. Intrigue & Politics: Power flows through Greyhawk's alleys just as much as its grand avenues. As players, you'll navigate the treacherous waters of politics, where alliances are fragile, and enemies are always a step behind. Every decision could tip the balance of power, or leave you tangled in a web of deceit. Adventuring into the Unknown: While the campaign is rooted in urban exploration, the call to adventure will lead you beyond the city walls. Delve into forgotten ruins beneath the city, uncover lost histories in nearby lands, and face challenges that test your mettle in the wilds just beyond Greyhawk's reach. The City of Greyhawk: Greyhawk is a city like no other, a melting pot of cultures, races, and ideologies. From the wealthy nobles of High Quarter to the bustling docks of the River Quarter, each district has its own flavor, challenges, and stories to tell. The city is alive, its pulse felt in every tavern brawl, whispered in every dark alley, and echoed in the halls of power. Your Role: As players, you will take on the roles of daring adventurers, cunning rogues, insightful investigators, and savvy diplomats. Your journey will take you from the darkest corners of the Old City to the opulent halls of the Lord Mayor. You’ll face moral dilemmas, uncover hidden truths, and forge your own legacy in a city where everyone has a secret. Will you rise to become a power in Greyhawk, or will you be just another story lost to the city's endless intrigues? The choice is yours in "Mysteries of the Free City." Prepare your wits, ready your blades, and dive into a campaign where every shadow hides a secret, and every decision counts.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Forged in '79. Rolling the bones since 1992! 📣 Greetings and salutations, traveler! Have a seat and listen to my tale... 📣 I am Dimitris M. (Jim for short) and I hail from Greece. Most people know me by Lord Stendor, due to my booming voice which I try to keep detained. I have been a player and a game master for more than 3 decades. I have wandered in the endless paths, roads and starlanes of storytelling and met so many interesting people while having dragon hoards of fun! From classic Dungeons and Dragons to the World of Darkness to the Warhammer Universe, I have sailed through the pages of lore and adventures! I like to try all sorts of weird and fun new TTRPGs. I currently run campaigns in the various Warhammer universe games and Dungeons and Dragons. I am a details freak and I love to create new stories, situations and problems for my players. I am a fair player and even fairer game master, some may even call me "too soft". I am a strong believer that a GM is equal parts entertainer, judge and storyteller. It is the job of a GM to create a fun, fair and interesting environment for their players so everybody can enjoy themselves! The tables I run are expected to, first and foremost, respect the GM's judgement, but I am always open to listen to an argument first and judge second. I try to focus on narration, setting the mood and immersing the player in the environment. I also enjoy setting riddles and traps, so be careful. Currently, I run campaigns that focus on the Warhammer 40k universe (Dark Heresy 2e, Only War, Black Crusade etc.) and D&D (Greyhawk 5e), I soon plan to release a campaign in Warhammer Fantasy 4e and Imperium Maledictum here on Startplaying. I am always planning new stuff and I prefer to design my own material or to keep the essence of an adventure and redesign it to suit the needs of our current group. Come and join me traveler to the endless voyage within the pages of intrigue, fun and heroic deeds!

Creating your character
We use 2024 ruleset as basis but you can pick subclasses from 2014. A House Rules document will be provided on Session 0 that will help on Character Creation and clarify all available options, as well as the general rules of the campaign. We will create characters on Session 0 (rolls, decisions etc.) 1) Ability Score Generation Either of two methods can be used for Ability Score generation. 4d6dl or Standard Array. The generation will be on D&D Beyond. 2) Alignment All alignments are eligible except Chaotic Evil. Discuss your choice with your DM for approval. Alignment will be monitored and alignment swifts might occur if a player constantly neglects to follow his Ethos and Morals. Players may get a warning, once! 3) Religion All the deities of Oerth are eligible. Spiritualism/Atheism/Animism are eligible. 4) Races All basic races native on Oerth are allowed in this game. You can roll more exotic races with a good backstory, Greyhawk after all accepts everyone. Keep in mind that some races are more difficult to play and racial prejudice is to be expected in many cases. 5) Classes All classes are allowed in this campaign. 6) Back Story Players must present a brief written background for the character after Session 0 and before Session 1 (preferable some days earlier). Details for each race/class class will be provided even if you do not have the books.
