Rule of Cool
He is a fantastic DM. He's not only flexible but supportive of creative ideas. It really enhances the experience and allows for more creative fun even when our luck as players are low. He clearly cares about everyone having fun and getting the most out of the game rather than applying strict rules to the campaign. I personally havent laughed this hard and been so down bad on luck and yet still enjoyed myself like this during a session in a long time. I really do suggest more people play some of his games.
I was completely new to D&D and Ryu was very patient while we went through my character sheet and the Eberron universe rules. Ryu allowed for reasonable homebrew items and physics and encouraged as much creativity from his players as possible, even rewarding those who challenged him as a DM with mental gymnastics. I felt safe to explore and make mistakes and ask questions -- he's fantastic for beginners and advanced players. I absolutely recommend him!
Character creation
Creating your character
depending on each player character creation will generaly happen with Me and a player as 1-on-1s to ensure concepts and ideas are inplace smoothly, i belive in mostly RAW creation, but homebrew and "DM thrown bones" will happen for multiple game based reasons. stats will be based on a pointbuy/ standard array for simplicity, i run WIDE MAGIC games not Forgotten realms magic nuking kind of stories, you are mortals trying to survive post war issues in a somewhat magical land. characters will be created on multiple ways but mostly working together with a digital character sheets (most likely roll 20) with me and major changes are documented by on both ends, THERE MAY BE TIME TRAVEL DUE TO SHENANIGANS. offical dnd content and sorts will be sent out during session 0s and during play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
webcam not required, nice for roleplay and dramatic effect but not required microphone must allow me to understand you without major technical issues, im in IT and electrical fields, wont be hard to help internet is generally required so will websites like roll20, discord, obsidian notes if able, etc etc character creation and game supplies can all be handed over online, via link or picture
