About the adventure

The world of Thylea awaits! Odyssey of the Dragonlords is a mythical heroic adventure in its most ideal form. Titans, gods, and monsters stride the world, and you, as a burgeoning hero, must find your place among them. A tenuous peace exists between the gods and titans, made centuries ago, and soon to shatter. You are the only hope for Thylea. This campaign is designed for a party of four to six adventurers, and will take you from level 1 to 15+. By your hand, may the truce be reforged, or may the ancient foes that threaten your peoples be destroyed! Which of these fates will come to pass? Only you can decide. 🌟 𝑴𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 🌟 ⚔️ 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒕: Medium ✨ 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈: High 🌀 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚: Medium-High 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒖𝒚-𝒊𝒏: If you've always loved the idea of ancient mythology, classical monsters, and characters with serious flaws who nevertheless hold important roles in the world, you'll love Odyssey of the Dragonlords. This adventure will transport you to a bygone era, and to an older type of story. The gods will not always be kind of fair, and you cannot trust everyone you meet. You will be heroes, but nobody will expect you to be perfect - and you shouldn't expect to meet perfect allies or enemies, either. 🏳️‍🌈 📑 I prioritize a safe table for you and your party, and aim to create a fantasy setting that does not rely on bigotry to create fantastic and exciting experiences. 🌟 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄 𝒕𝒐 𝑶𝒅𝒚𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, an abundance of extra content, including: 🔹 𝑬𝒑𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔 to drive the unique narrative of your character (The Cursed One, the Demi-God, the Dragonslayer, and more!) 🔹 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒔 directly connected to the setting, such as Sirens, Medusae, and Nymphs 🔹 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔 specific to Thylea, like the Herculean Barbarian, a Warlock of the Fates, or an Oath of the Dragonlord Paladin 🔹 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 100+ 𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒑𝒔 for your adventures, with animated spells, visual fx, and custom tokens for you and your foes 🔹 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒌𝒔 as your party establishes themselves and accomplishes heroic feats, ensuring you are recognized (for better or worse!) across the land

About me

Greetings and warm wishes, adventurers! Whether you are a bold and hearty hero looking for a fantastical adventure or a clever and cunning scoundrel who just wants to do the job, get paid, and go home, you'll find your place at my table. My name is Craig (he/him), and I've been a game master for more than half of my life. I grew up with my dad telling me all sorts of fantastical stories as a kid, and from there, I only delved deeper. I've run games professionally for a decade now, and have told stories for veterans, new players, and everything in between. When it comes to my philosophy on games, I hold three ideals above all else: 💙 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 The tabletop scene is one shared across a variety of lives and experiences. It doesn't belong to any one group, and we must all look after one another and cultivate our community to make it expansive, welcoming, and safe! 🎉 𝐅𝐮𝐧 Laughter is a universal language. Sharing moments of joy, sorrow, exhiliration, anger, and passion together lets us create memories that last lifetimes! Plus, telling dumb jokes is a fantastic way to blow off steam. I want my table to always be a place you can come to in order to have a good time. ✨ 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 Lifelong learning means that the world never grows stale and rote. Following new stories and opening yourself up to new ideas gives you the opportunity to grow, and see the world through someone else's eyes. Yes, it's important to feel comfortable and safe and happy, but sometimes, it's also important to feel a little uncomfortable in order to grow! If you only have the same experiences day after day, then your life will flash right by, and if I can help you avoid that, I'd love to do so. If all of this sounds like it's up your alley, then come on by, grab some dice, and join me for a rollicking and memorable adventure! No matter what your system of choice is, as long as you bring a good attitude and respect for your fellow players, then you'll find a home here. See you at the table!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be discussed in-depth during Session Zero and in the group Discord beforehand. Access to a DnDBeyond campaign for character creation will be provided when you join the game, and you can feel free to discuss character concepts in the group Discord ahead of time. I suggest that you not completely finalize character creation until after it has been discussed during Session Zero, as after discussing it with the party, you may wish to make some alterations to better fit into the party's identity and goals. 🗡️ Characters will start at 1st level. 🗡️ 27 Point-Buy for stats, not rolled. 🗡️ Averages for HP instead of rolling. Further prep materials will be provided to you once you're signed up for the campaign, to give you a more in-depth look at just how character-building works. I offer several additional perks for new characters to help you create the character of your dreams!

The current party

Join us every Sunday in the land of Thylea, where you will stand against the Titans and make your mark as heroes! Your character will begin at level 6, with one rare magic item and two uncommon magic items - and a unique destiny, tied to the Odyssey of the Dragonlords story! The story is approximately 50% complete, as there is a strong chance this party will be playing the optional campaign add-on that runs all the way to level 20. This group trends towards roleplay and a lighthearted style of play, so if you're looking for an easy to jump into and entertaining game, you couldn't ask for a better fit! The Party: 🔹 Eladrin Circle of Dragons Druid 🔹 Minotaur Devotion Paladin 🔹 Half-Elf Shadow Monk 🔹 Aasimar Artillerist Artificer 🔹 You!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Voice and video communication will be run through Discord, with DnDBeyond used for character creation, and Roll20 for battlemaps, visual aids, and dice rolling. You are not obligated to use video, but I will be running with my video on. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅: 🗡️ 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒆𝒕, and preferably remain on push-to-talk or otherwise mute yourself between dialogue if you expect to have disruptive background noise. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒓. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒏𝑫𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆.

How Craig Chapman creates a safe table

𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: More than most campaigns I run, I have listed a variety of content warnings for Odyssey of the Dragonlords. I do not intend to weaponize these things against players, but as the campaign does focus on some classical-style storytelling, cruel and capricious gods and mortals alike do some pretty awful things. Unfortunately, prejudice/racism are parts of the story, especially against more monstrous lineages, but these are things you will be able to combat and stand against, and will not be directed towards player characters. I will do my best to offer warnings before specific instances so that anyone who wants to do so can deafen themselves, and we will discuss the campaign's content in Session 0, as some of it is malleable and can be altered if necessary. 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚: I run a script-heavy Roll20 game with plenty of visual aids and handouts, and will (usually) post most of these to a group Discord as well. Dynamic lighting, scripts to improve the accessibility and quality of your game, and macros to make every element of the game as simple as possible are all elements that I offer. These elements can be disabled upon request, if there are issues with lag or concerns about usability. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑾𝒆 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚: We will use Roll20 as a virtual table-top (VTT) for gameplay and dice-rolling, and Discord for voice and (optional) video. I will use a camera, but you are not required to do so unless you want to. I use music bots in Discord for audio and ambience, but can also use Syrinscape upon request. I will have Discord open at all times on a separate monitor, so if you want to ask me any questions or have concerns about the gameplay, you can message me either straight through Roll20 or through Discord. I am also available throughout the week (excluding Saturdays) to help troubleshoot any tech issues or character questions, to a reasonable extent. 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒁𝒆𝒓𝒐 & 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚: Prior to our Session Zero, I will make sure everyone has a copy of the consent checklist to fill out, so that I can note during our conversation what matters are off-limits, and give you some anonymity if you want it. Our Session Zero will cover campaign direction and themes, the main elements of the campaign, preferred style of play and difficulty, content warnings and safety concerns, character creation guidelines, party integration, player etiquette, and house rules. If there are any other elements you'd like to discuss, please feel free to bring them up with me ahead of time, and I will discuss with you as to whether or not we should include them in our conversation.
