About the adventure
You are approached by an enigmatic wizard who claims his magic was stolen by a witch. Now, he's seeking out a band of adventurers to join him in his peculiar home in order to get it back. With echoes of war on the horizon and the witch still hot on his trail, he can't exactly guarantee a safe journey (hence why he needs you). He does, however, promise a reward: A magical favor to each person who agrees to help him, provided they succeed in restoring his magic. Enter a world heavily inspired by Howl's Moving Castle and other Ghibli films, with a plotline built around you, the players! This story will feature themes of war and pacifism, queer love and friendship, and the inherent magic of self discovery. You'll explore a colorful fantasy setting filled with magical creatures and steampunk technology, learn about the tension looming in the air, and find a way to make the world a better place with the family you find.

About me
Hi there! The name's Cas (they/them), and I'm a storyteller! I've been playing TTRPGs for about five years now, and I've been an improv storyteller and a writer for much longer. With me at your table, you'll have someone dedicated entirely to making your experience as personalized, story-rich, and narratively interesting as possible! And don't worry if you're new to the whole TTRPG thing. I'll be happy to show you the ropes, help you along the way, and sometimes even throw the rules out the window if you wanna do something cool! What matters most in my games is having fun and telling a good story! Additionally, I'm the safety coordinator of my home games, meaning at my table, I always utilize safety tools to ensure that everyone is comfortable throughout the game. If all that sounds good to you, then great! I look forward to playing make-believe with you :)
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
We'll be starting at level 3, and there are pretty much no restrictions to character creation as long as you clear it with me first. If you think it fits the vibe of the setting, then we'll find a way to fit it in! You're welcome to bring a character concept with you, but I like to save proper character creation until after Session Zero. That way, all players are on the same page when it comes to their expectations and can even discuss their concepts with me and amongst themselves! This will help me further personalize the story to make your characters the driving force of the story!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This is a VERY beginner-friendly game. All you really need to bring is a desire to tell a good story! The rest, I'll help you with if you need a hand! Like I said earlier, no cameras are required and you don't need a professional mic either. As long as we can hear you over voice chat, you're good to go! We'll take care of character creation after our Session Zero. After that, feel free to create a character sheet however you'd like! I like to use D&D Beyond, and if everyone decides to use it then we might implement it further into our gameplay, but it's not required. I'll adapt to you guys!
What Cas Phantasma brings to the table
We'll be playing over discord using mainly Theater of the Mind. I take the time to carefully score each session with music fitting every situation, and I do character voices and accents to the best of my ability. Rest assured, immersion is guaranteed! Cameras are NOT required. I won't be turning on my camera for my own comfort, therefore nobody else is required to use their camera unless they want to. I'm all about Rule of Cool and will use the rules as written to enhance and allow my players to feel like the main characters of this story. Chances are, if it furthers the narrative, I'll probably allow it. This will be a very story-driven campaign, but there will be some climactic battles here and there. There may be some sessions where I decide against a combat encounter and instead have you do skill challenges or quick time events to further the plot. When I do combat, I try to make it as immersive and engaging as possible.

How Cas Phantasma creates a safe table
General Gameplay Details: I try to customize the gameplay experience to my players preferences under a given theme. My initial concept is a generally lighthearted atmosphere that delves into heavier topics like war, with the ultimate goal of bringing peace to an idealistic world. There will be a discussion of player preferences and boundaries during our Session 0 to ensure this experience is as personalized as possible. Safety: I'm the safety coordinator of my home games, so you can count on a safe and inclusive experience! We'll hold a session zero to discuss what I mentioned above. There I'll hand out consent forms, go over expectations and boundaries, and we'll begin the character creation process! I have a whole powerpoint presentation and list of the tools my home group uses, but if there are any more tools that you'd like us to implement, please bring it up during our discussion! From story to safety, every aspect of my games are tailored to my players!
