About the adventure

Dive into a world so few have had the opportunity to explore, only 600 years of history has been recorded in Monteya and the books of legend are yet to hit the presses, will you be its newest addition? This fascinating world has vast environments just waiting to be explored; from the mountains of the Rathlokryn Commune and its lands of beasts, to the frozen hellscape that is the Holy State of Crys, and many more. This will be a mostly sandbox adventure, starting from one of a few designated places, based on the design and backgrounds of the players characters. The players will have the opportunity to build out the world around them, and watch as their actions have consequences.

About me

Hi! I go by Xexus (zek-sus) but you can also call me Ryan. With financial stability at an all time low for people of my generation, the internet has given us access to so many tools, and I've decided it's about time I start using them! I've been using StartPlaying for over a year now, and fallen in love with it as a tool, the GMs I've found here have all been outstanding and I haven't had any problems with all the different players I've encountered. My personal experience as a Dungeon Master is limited, but I have experience with all types of different pre-written adventures and have been working on my own homebrew world for months now. My base of player experience is far more extensive, the timeline may be short, but with an addictive personality I've absorbed about as much as one could over my RPG career. This career is mostly D&D 5e, but I've explored different games as well, have a passing knowledge in a handful of different ones, and take different concepts from all of them to my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-Gen Characters are available. I am available to assist working through character creation if necessary, and it is encouraged to speak with fellow players about possible backstory connections but even mechanical synergies. Roll20 will be what I primarily will be using, but D&D Beyond is simple enough to work between as well. Players can feel free to use all official D&D 5e content, and potentially outside supplemental content with approval. The community of supplemental content is vast and fascinating, and I'm always looking for more options to implement.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- a steady internet connection - Discord free account, with a working microphone for voice chat - Roll20 free account, with basic knowledge of its functions - general understanding of how their character's function - a thirst for adventure! - excitement to tell a story together!

What Xexus brings to the table

I use Roll20 for visual aid and maps, a lot of images for important pieces and hand-picked maps for each scenario. I recognize that D&D 5e is a flawed system, and while hope comes with the next generation, there are ways in which I deviate from the standard rules for the better of mine and player experience. Challenging and interesting combat is a must at my table, I enjoy setting the scene and having my players explore it to the fullest. That being said, the opportunity to take a step back and dive into really living a players character is very important to me, so I create built in avenues and encourage it during gameplay. I am a very excitable person and love to put my full energy into creating memorable experiences for everyone involved. Outside game hours I will be more than open to talking about how your character interacts with the world, and helping to build the fantasy you want for your character.

Safety

How Xexus creates a safe table

I've used a fair amount of different checklists that set up Lines and Veils, this would be submitted prior to a Session 0 that could then include details of what will be avoided. Players can feel free to take a second to walk away without fear of repercussion, and there will be a break about half way through every session. I love to hear feedback from my players on likes and dislikes, ways to improve, anything they feel the need to work through. While the game itself will be limited to a timeline, discussion post-game can go longer if necessary.
