About the adventure
A continent divided. A kingdom that has stood 400 years. A looming threat that will destroy the kingdom as we know it. Will you help to stop it? Or will you bring about the downfall of the age? Aasilmir: A Kingdom in Turmoil is the story of a created continent on the fantasy world of Te'Ron. In the 400 years since the kingdom was established, the age of progress has lasted with a weak hold onto peace. Our story begins 60 years after the last conflict, that left the continent divided in half with the Speir Mountains acting as the border. Attacks on villages at the border, the disappearances of it's citizens, and the looming threat of something to the North. There have been rumors of those taken being forced into slave labor. Perhaps it is even a ranking military member that has been behind it. Your party will explore and discover the truth behind these events, but will it be in time to stop the coming conflict? Explore many different cities, towns, villages and scenic locations from mountain ranges to swamps, a misty forest or the ocean front cliffs that overlook the Icy land to the north, separated by a frozen sea. This homebrew campaign will be a wonderful opportunity for those that are beginners, experienced or veteran alike. With freedom to try many races, classes and backgrounds, we can truly explore and create a story together. One of adventure and suspense, love and friendship, necessity and simplicity. If you are looking for an escape from life, with a good story, twists and turns, mystery, puzzles, combat, role playing and exploration all while being set in a previously unexplored world and having the freedom to learn the game, this is the campaign for you!

Meet the Game Master
About me
Greetings fellow adventurers! My name is Chris, or DungeonDad as my kids call me, and I am pleased that you have taken the time to learn a little more about me. I have been following, playing and leading immersive TTRPGs since 2002/2003. I have been a player, a lore/story writer, a Co-GM and a GM over the years. While the majority of my time has been spent playing and GMing D&D, I do have experience in other TTRPGs as well. I believe that a good story can take place in any genre, any time period and with any mix of characters. All you need is the willingness of the players to participate and a good GM that will listen, absorb and incorporate what the players give. Many of the campaigns and One-shots I run are from Homebrew worlds, while incorporating the rules and limitations of the RPG itself. I believe that having fun and discovering the world and the story together is most important, and I am always looking for that next hook to sink into the lore. Especially when that hook is provided organically by a player interaction or idea. I always strive to match the lore, story and atmosphere of the world to the story the players want to experience. I will also run campaigns and single sessions in pre-built worlds or even adapt your concept of a world or time period into a campaign for you. I have had the pleasure of playing and GMing for a multitude of different backgrounds and peoples. Helping everyone from a brand new beginner level to running campaigns for experienced veterans looking for something fresh from their normal table. I was able to play and GM a limited amount during my 10 year service in the Marine Corps and as a result, got to experience the love of the games, and discovery of them as well, from people of every mindset, personality and enthusiasm level. From playing in a campaign that lasted a year on the east coast, to playing almost nightly during a 6 month game in the middle east to keep our heads on straight. Even to now, running 2 home games, one for my friends and one for my family including younger kids. I know the love, escape and happiness this experience can bring, and how important our characters and stories become to us. I am a veteran, I am a family man and I am an avid fantasy reader, writer and fan. I have been to 23 countries and counting. I have worked in many different settings both through the military and through my life since then. I have a lot of experiences and exposure to cultures to bring to my stories. I believe this is what can set me apart from others. I value the expectations and desires of my players and want to inject as much immersion, culture, real-world feel and experiences as I can into the stories they are telling. Anything I can contribute to bring their story to life and make it feel as special as it can to them. Lastly, my disclaimer. Due to the life that I have lived and the experiences I have, I am Hard of Hearing to the point of it causing me to use a caption software that I have designed myself to integrate with audio interfaces and live caption. It utilizes different colors for different audio input channels and outputs. That being said I have had minimal to no issues with in person or virtual hosting. What does this mean for you? Well I may have a half second delay in a response to re-read the caption, and you will have to pick a color for your captions on my screen. Yay! Other than that, you shouldn't notice any difference in my ability to communicate and engage with you. I thank you again for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to assisting you in creating your next story! Cheers Adventurers!

Creating your character
Character creation can be done collaboratively during session 0, or individually offline with the options to message me with questions or concerns. All characters are for the development of the player, however I do wish to keep the characters inline with the world. I don't think it would fit to have an Astronaut with a ray gun enter this medieval style time frame. Therefore I do reserve the right to "Veto" certain character developments, however it will never be a hard "NO". It will be more of a "let's find a better way to make this fit into the world we are playing in" and I will do my best to stay true to your characters design and personality while making it fit. Characters will start at level 1, but the leveling process is milestone and fairly quick up to level 3. This is to allow new players to learn how the class and Racial traits work and experience the addition of new skills. Once the party reaches level 3, it will slow to a more average pace of leveling.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Webcam preferred (It helps with interaction and clear communication of your characters and IRL emotional state, lines, veils and xs) Mic required Minimum free account for DnDBeyond Discord preferred Google meet as a secondary option (other platforms as well if necessary) Depending on the number of new players, we will discuss and cover the rules during session 0 as well as throughout the early stages of the campaign. I will always be available and willing to answer any questions regarding rules at any time during play or outside of play. We will create at least the base of your characters collaboratively during session 0. The backstory, and specifics are players choice if they do not wish to reveal it to other players. Each player will be expected to provide a minimum of one paragraph (5 sentences) of backstory. This gives me an idea of how and why your character ties into the story. I can assist in developing backstory, or give pointers or ideas. The more you give me, the more I can play with and incorporate into the story so that you enjoy it even more.
What Chris (DungeonDad) brings to the table
We will be managing characters on DnDBeyond. I provide the subscription account as the GM and players can utilize a free account if needed. I also provide Mordenkainen's Monsters and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything in addition to the standard rule books. Players will also need a discord account or if that cannot be accomplished a Google account for Meet. I will be providing history of the continent and the world during session 0. This can aid in character creation, backstory and character decisions as a whole. I will also be available by message anytime to answer questions and assist with learning the system, character development, backstory writing and story focus points.

How Chris (DungeonDad) creates a safe table
Session 0 will cover the history of the continent/world and help in the character creation and backstory development. Lines and Veils will be established either publicly or privately by message, whichever the player is comfortable with. They are no questions asked and will be upheld. As well as Xs, which will be used as a message to the DM privately or held up on screen. (again, whichever is more comfortable to the player) After each session I will also stay on the calls an additional 30 minutes to do aftercare, debriefing and answer questions or assist with new players.
