This adventure drops you right into the action in Avernus, the first layer of Hell! Take part in the age-old Blood War, drive massive infernal engines across a barren hellscape, and work to rescue the victims of a deal gone bad. About me

Hi I'm DM Michael. I've been running games for over 4 years and love welcoming new and experienced players alike. As a former theater kid, I really lean into my characterizations, using voices for my NPCs and provide a lot of atmosphere with music and custom tokens. I also love building story beats around character backstories. This is YOUR story and you will shape the world. Logistically, I use a combination of Roll20 and Discord. I run mostly 5e but have recently started getting into Trail of Cthulhu. That said, if you and your group are interested in a different rule set I'm happy to set up a custom game to accommodate your interests. Whether you want a nifty one-shot or a multiverse-spanning epic campaign, let's work together to craft a game that will be one for the ages.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will start with level 1 characters, and you can bring them to your first session. You should try to have something in mind before the first session, but no need to have anything set in stone. For character creation, anything from official 5e published sources is allowed. You can use either point buy or standard array for stats. You'll also start with a free feat chosen from magic initiate, tough, or skilled.0

The current party

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should be familiar with the basic rules of DnD 5e before we start. You'll need a Roll20 account, access to DnD Beyond (with the Beyond 20 extension), a microphone, and a Discord account.

What DMMichael brings to the table

I will: - provide all the maps on Roll20 - bring lots of interesting NPCs with voices and intriguing personalities - have expansions beyond the base module including Xanathar's, Tasha's, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, and more! - use dynamic lighting for most maps - make custom tokens - homebrew monsters, treasures, locations, etc. - play music and sound effects - integrate your character's backstory into the larger world

Safety

How DMMichael creates a safe table

Players can expect tactical combat, deep roleplaying, and extensive exploration. Safety tools: - I will send out a lines and veils document before our session 0. - We do stars and wishes at the end of every session where we reflect on what we liked and what we hope will happen in the next session. - Any player (or the DM) can call for a break at any time for a one-on-one discussion - X, N, O cards are digital on Roll20
