Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello there! I'm Anya (she/her) and I'm an American expat living in Germany. I have 25 years of acting experience and have been playing a variety of TTRPGs for 15 years, GMing for the last 5 years. While English is my native language, I am also fluent in French and (mostly) fluent in German. I regularly guest on streamed Actual Plays on Twitch, from Girls Run These Worlds to EUphoria to Live from the Apocalypse and more! While D&D 5e is certainly a staple, I adore exploring the less common/popular TTRPGs such as my personal favorite, Monster of the Week, and got my start in the Serenity RPG back in college. I'm also a Silver Bestseller on DMs Guild with my 5e module The Curse of Fate and Copper Bestseller on DTRPG with my Candela Obscura Assignment, The Woman in Red! I look forward to playing with you. 🥰

The session was a lot of fun and it was apparent that Anya was having fun as well! She communicated clearly before the session and created a game atmosphere that felt safe and welcoming. She did a great job keeping track of the players and characters throughout the game. I would definitely recommend her as a DM and would play again! [edit] I've played quite a few sessions with Anya now and just keep coming back! She's fantastic. I keep recommending her to friends who might be interested in playing online.
I've been playing mostly 5e for 8 years, I've had about 6 DMs over that time and run about 7 one shots myself. Anya is an incredible DM, GM, keeper and all around world creator in every system she runs. So far I've played for her in 5E, monster of the week and Serenity. She's clever, inclusive, considerate and creative in amazing ways. Her tables pull in the highest tier funny, compassionate, and invested players I've ever seen. The quality and diversity of her player base speaks to her talent as a leader as well as her personability making people feel comfortable in the game. 10/10 would recommend.
Anya is a delightful storyteller. She really cares for her players and does everything possible to make sure everyone is having a good time. She leaves the door open for her players to indulge their creativity, while still keeping the story moving. Sign up for Anya's games! You're going to have a great time.
Anya is a wonderful GM! I love how she is so adaptable and willing to let the players shape the story, and it always feels like a safe place to roleplay. I also appreciate the liveliness of our sessions, there's never a dull moment and the sessions I've been a part of are great for beginners! The collaborative preparation regarding learning a new system was really helpful, and it's been easy to learn as I go, without pressure. Definitely recommend her as a GM!
Character creation
Creating your character
We will build characters prior to the session start time. It's a simple matter of choosing your character's playbook (essentially their archetype), ratings that modify rolls for moves, and moves you would like them to have for the game, which are all listed in the character playbooks.
We will start off the first session with character/world building and how your characters are connected. Discussion can happen beforehand in my Discord server as well! NOTE: I have a selection of MotW sessions that I've run as one-shots, so if you have played with me in the past, I will pick a different game to run! Feel free to sign up to any games that work for you and message me if you are a recurring MotW player. 😊 There will be no graphic gore in this game, as it is one of my lines, and will be at most fade to black.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Basic webcams and mics are perfectly fine! This isn't a streamed Actual Play, and the important thing is that we are able to see each other and understand one another. Basic understanding of the genre is of course helpful, but you don't need to be an expert in Monster of the Week by any means! That's what I'm here for. You are welcome to have your own physical dice to play with, or you can use virtual dice as well.
What Anya brings to the table
I will bring a host of spooky monsters and weave a bizarre and fascinating world for your characters to explore.

Safety
How Anya creates a safe table
I will send out a copy of the form-fillable Lines & Veils PDF to all players prior to the game, and we will discuss these in session zero with names stripped away to be anonymous. There will be no graphic gore in this game, as it is one of my lines, and will be at most fade to black. If at any time a player needs to modify their Lines & Veils, they are absolutely welcome to message me privately and we will pivot/update that information accordingly. After the session, we will give a quick recap of how the session went and if there were any shifts in tone needed to ensure that all players have an enjoyable time.
