About the adventure
Brave heroes, like yourself, are never lacking in things to do. Dungeons, full of formidable foes, deadly peril and mysterious wonders, are ripe for the taking! Join me, your narrator and guide, as you seek your fame and fortune with other stout souls exploring dark, dangerous places. Gameplay will revolve around short fantasy campaigns for 3-5 heroes, battling through various dungeons from WotC and other publishers. Combat will be a mix of Theatre of the Mind and tactical VTT, exploration encouraged and roleplaying rewarded. As your guide and narrator, I play an intrinsic part of the campaign as we collaboratively craft a unique story together. I aim to weave story and character arcs into one tapestry. The game will be dynamic, as actions have consequences and villains have their own agendas to follow. Each delve, over 2-5 sessions, will have an initial clear purpose with an agreed reason why your hero is there. I encourage each hero to have their time in the spotlight each session.

About me
Dive into enchantment! Let me craft your epic adventure in a world of words – where your choices shape the story. Ready for a thrilling journey? I work in technology and coach martial arts. I am also a long-time member of the AboveVTT team and had the honour of generating the initial D&D Beyond Maps for every module into that system. My eyes stopped bleeding after a little while :) Immerse yourself in inclusive and dynamic storytelling where every player is a vital part of the narrative. I prioritise fun for each participant, ensuring every character has their moment to shine in our collaborative adventure. Versatile in accommodating diverse gaming styles, I act as your biggest fan while letting actions, or their absence, unfold organically with consequences in our evolving stories. By intricately weaving together player and NPC story arcs, we co-create a vibrant world that responds dynamically to your choices, making each session an unforgettable experience. I invite you to join me and help build a story that you'll remember and recall for years to come. Let's StartPlaying!

Creating your character
We will have a session zero to discuss creating a cohesive party with a shared backstory. Characters for D&D 5e will be created on D&D Beyond, using the built-in tools and character sheet, or I can provide pre-generated characters that are suitable for this particular adventure. The adventure begins at 1st level with a bit of HP bolstering (as that is a squishy time for PC's) - players who join later will join the party at its current level. Session zero may also include the opening scenes of the story, time dependant.
Every other Saturday, a D&D 5e adventure taking characters from 1st to 5th level. We begin at the Gentle Willow inn where the characters meet up with the former adventurer Eli Merrow. He has a rat problem. Three weeks ago, a rat in his cellar, a big one, bit his wife on the hand. The thing ran down into a sub-cellar Eli hadn’t ever seen. His son Jess went down into the sub-cellar himself two weeks ago and never returned. When Eli went down looking for Jess, a huge mangy boil-covered horror that could barely even be called rat chased Eli off. Eli has since called to his old friends to go down into his cellar, find his son, and get rid of this rat problem once and for all. Will you dare to become a local hero and delve into the dark?
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and D&D Beyond (to access your digital character sheet) If the session uses AboveVTT you will need to download and install the browser extension from either the Chrome or Firefox stores (depending on your chosen browser).
What Iain - a Scots DM brings to the table
All handouts, maps, art, and character-building resources will be provided electronically either through D&D Beyond, the chosen VTT or Discord. Music, when used, will be via the Kenku.FM bot in Discord (you are welcome to mute that if necessary). I will also provide a public URL to a Legend Keeper adventure diary for you to browse at any time. Most importantly, I bring my enthusiasm to cheer on you, the player, as you craft a tale to remember with your characters.

How Iain - a Scots DM creates a safe table
Session 0 can be used to confirm expectations of the adventure content and behaviour, build characters and create character connections. Lines and veils & the MCRPG consent list are provided as a Google Docs link. Discord PM's will be used for X/N/O cards and Stars and Wishes. Time will be left at the end of the session to cover any aftercare and debriefing. I can also be PM'd for those that prefer that.
